The home is beautifully located on a large lot, just a minutes walk from a lovely white sand beach. You even have a view of the ocean from windows on the front of the house. The back of the house opens onto a gorgeous inland waterway, where you can watch beautifully coloured tropical fish, including spotted eagle rays, swimming by, while frigate birds fly overhead, herons perch on the dock posts, and humming birds dart around looking for their sweet treats. Right on the water's edge is a covered tiki-bar with picnic table and benches where you can enjoy al-fresco meals overlooking the water - maybe fish freshly caught off the dock! And quite often, you can enjoy all this with sunsets to die for!
The house itself is comfortable, spacious and open plan and can comfortably accommodate eight adults. There two conventional bedrooms - one king, one queen, while the third bedroom was converted some time ago, to add more space to the living area, but can still be closed off, for privacy, with an attractive curtain. The bed is a very comfortable futon with a 10" thick mattress. The fourth bedroom is a multi-purpose room with two built-in daybeds and a small closet. The room has a magnificent view of the waterway.
The villa is located in the lovely Silver Cove area of Freeport, just a two minute walk from the beautiful white sand beaches and a five minute drive from the ever-popular Port Lucaya Marketplace with its lively atmosphere, colourful shops and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket.
When staying at Silver Point Villa, you can walk across to the lovely beach in the mornings, lunch at your own private tikki bar on the water's edge at mid-day, lounge in the spacious grounds in the afternoons, surrounded by bougainvillea, hibiscus, frangipani, ornamental palms and an abundance of coconut palms. You could enjoy a good book and cool drink in one of the shady seating areas, or cool off with a swim in the waterway, which is easily accessed via steps from the wooden dock.
If you arrive by boat, you will be able to take advantage of free dockage at the forty foot long dock.
When the sun goes down, you can cook indoors in the well-equipped kitchen and dine in the formal dining area surrounded by windows looking out on the moon-lit water, or you could return to the tikki bar and enjoy the cool evening air on the water's edge, maybe also cooking outside on the gas grill.
The neighbourhood: The beach is right across the street! and it is a beautiful white sand beach!
The street is a cul-de-sac so there is no traffic to speak of. It is always quiet and peaeful. The most noise we ever get is from the occasional pleasure-craft sailing past the back of the house.
There is a restaurant just across the street and another in the resort a short walk down the street, while a five minute drive or taxi ride will take you to Port Lucaya, where you will have a wide selection of eating places. Alternatively, you could walk to the beach where Anton's open-air beach bar prepares food each evening and a bonfire twice a week. Also just a few minutes walk away is the settlement of William's Town where you will find a couple of choices of eating places where you can sample the local Bahamian fare.
The house is just a short ten-minute taxi ride from the airport and if you decide to rent a car, be assured, we have plenty free parking space. There is no regular bus service from Silver Cove, but there are occasional buses to town or to Port Lucaya and you could always take advantage of inexpensive taxis available at the resort down the street.
A wide variety of water sports is available locally, including scuba, snorkelling, jet-skis, paddle boards, para-sailing and so on.
