Literally the only thing I didn't like about the place was that right outside the main entrance was a gauntlet for smoking for all the shops around the hostel. Even with the door closed, you can still smell that stench from the lobby.
My friend and I got a bunk bed room on the second floor. It was better than expected; larger bed and room. The shower also had high water pressure.
The front desk service was really good when it was open that is! I guess the hours are a little different during virus times. There is also a live-in staff member, but apparently she is officially working only during the night, but you see her around all the time. So not sure if you can ask her for help any time.
The hostel is in a great location, easy to get to by public transport and easy to find. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, would stay again. The air con works wells, amenities are provided, towels, shampoo, conditioning and etc.
Great place to stay and very central to canal city, there is also a motsunabe place around the corner which is a must try.
Located in a major shopping arcade this is convenient to both local shopping and other nearby shopping. No elevator so higher floors not so goo for us with mobility problems. Stayed in a room with bunk beds, a double on bottom and a single upper. Linens were very clean and fresh smelling. The room had it's own bath and toilet so that was a plus, The place was well maintained, staff was friendly and helpful. This is very close to Nakasu entertainment district but the room was comfortable and quiet. The subway is at the other end of the arcade, 3 blocks I think and there is one of the finest convenience stores right next to it. It is only about half a bvlock to a major street with buses to Hakata station and Tinjin, plus about 2 blocks from Canal city a main shopping area. Gooid dining is neart by.
I stayed here for a couple of nights and it was very pleasant. The location is great right next to the big mall that has the ramen stadium in it. Also it is located on a shopping street making it easy to shop and eat close by. The staff was very friendly and the place is kept very clean. They hold weekly parties but I missed it when I was there. My only note would be that for the mixed dormitory in the winter avoid the bed next to the window as it was a little chilly. The blankets were extremely warm, but once I came out of my bed I was only cold due to being right next to the window. You get your choice of bed when you arrive so just avoid that bed if you are there in the winter.

The staff were great! The hostel wasn't especially new or comfortable, but kept clean. It's right on the edge of Nakasu, a big red-light district, but conveniently close to Canal City and lots of restaurants and night-life.

Nice stay
Staff were friendly. Location seemed central. Reasonably close to Hakata train station. Room was clean. I'm 6ft-plus and the shower was far too small for me - I had to awkwardly crouch. Possibly paid too much for the room given it wasn't high season - Fufuoka is not Tokyo. Might be something that goes hand-in-hand with Japanese style rooms but it felt strange having to make my own bed, and given the room rate and the length of stay, no turn down service.
Nice hotel, very conveniently located within walking distance of the train station and all of the sights in downtown Fukuoka. The bikes they offer for rent are really bad (they are broken and are foldable bikes).
I liked the bunk bed here. The room's main light was dimmed down, each bed space was wide and comfortable. The common space was a little small though. Overall the hostel was clean and well kept. The location was easy to find. There were many shops and restaurants right by the hostel.
Where I come from the word hostel usually means "bring your own bed clothes and other stuff you might need". Right from the start Hana Hostel rises from the mass of hostels by providing all that for you, included in the price (and free WiFi). I didn't have to bring my own bed sheets and that space in my bag could be used for other things. I choose the big shared sleeping room with eight beds. It was smart organized so that every bed had a footlocker with a padlock (to which you got the key when you checked in) where you could store your wallet and other valuable things. For mere 100yen you could rent a bath towel and soap and shampoo was provided in the shower room. For me that was incredible value to the price compared to what I am used to by Swedish standards which aren't by any means low to begin with. The staff were super nice and helpful and showed great patience with my child-like pronunciation of the little Japanese I know.
The hostel itself is located at the end of an arcade shopping street a few blocks away from the huge Canal City shopping mall. It took maybe 45min to walk to Fukushima Castle ruins and perhaps 20min to walk to Hakata Station (with my luggage). All in all it is a great location for my "base camp" regardless in what direction in Fukuoka I may go. And should I prefer to take the a bus or the subway instead of walking, neither a bus stop nor a subway station weren't more than a block away.
I only stayed there for one day but it was very nice and clean hostel. The staffs was nice and very friendly.

Good value for hostel experience
Our room was bunk beds with private bathroom, everything compact size as is common in Japan. Friendly, English-speaking staff. Many useful travel suggestions posted in lobby, including superb suggestions for cheap eateries nearby. Noise from neighbors even after "quiet hours" was noticeable (free ear plugs at front desk). Towels and other amenities are extra charge. Borrow umbrellas for free.
Such a great location! A short walk from the subway and right in the shopping arcade. Everything was clean. I made new friends while enjoying a cup of hot tea in the lounge. It has a relaxed inviting atmosphere. The bed in the all-female room was wide and offered curtains for privacy. I would definitely stay there again if I return to Fukuoka.
Although it is not closed to the subway station, but it has bus stop nearby. And, the 24hrs supermarket is just around the counter. It is closed to the Canal City, only 5 mins walk. The room is clean and tidy. But some rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor with stairs only, no elevator, guest with large luggage has to consider. Staffs are nice.
