If you want a taste of Japanese living, try staying in a Ryokan. This one, in particular, is very well-located with easy access to nearby bus and subway stations. It is a few steps away from some very important temples and shrines in Fukuoka. There are many restaurants and convenience stores nearby, and it is very near shops, including the grand Canal City, as well. The ryokan itself offers old world comfort at a very reasonable price. The staff are efficient and courteous. Breakfast was authentic Japanese style and the amenities are adequate. The Japanese garden at the center is very nice.
