Top hostel experience
My stay at 29 Madeira Hostel ranks as one of my top all time top hostel experiences. The hostel is clean, attractively-designed, centrally located, and reasonably priced. Guest service is superb. Carolina checks arrival time in advance of your stay to ensure that you are greeted upon arrival, prepares simple plates for breakfast for each guest daily, and regularly checks in with guests to make sure their needs are being met and to help with directions or suggestions for things to do during your stay. Carolina eagerly helped me to make arrangements for a Levada walk tour, which turned out to be one of the most beautiful hikes I have done. It is important to note that the front desk is not open 24 hours. My flight arrived after midnight, so I had to make alternative arrangements for accommodation on the first night.

Gorgeous hostel in great location
The staff made the stay easy and welcoming. The location was perfect for Funcal old town. Rooms and hostel were kept clean and tidy. There are more than enough plug sockets (even one above each bunk in the dorms!!) Perfect! Couldn't have asked for a better stay!

Beautiful character building in a great location. Comfortable beds in lovely rooms. Excellent staff run this great hostel. I would definately stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I stayed here only one night but I had a very pleasant time! Carolina at the main desk was very nice, helpful and accommodating. I would definitely stay there again in another trip to Madeira!

Perfect for a cheap stay - very central location and friendly. Walls are very thin so although a quiet place on the whole, you can hear every movement in neighbouring rooms. Staff were very helpful.

Little trip to Madeira
One of the nicest hostels I have stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff, lots of good advice. The hostel is really clean and has nice communal areas to relax in and meet people. It's only a short walk to the marina and if you go on a tour, the bus can pick you up close to the hostel.

Jag reser mycket och har bott på hostel i världens alla kontinenter. Jag vet vad man kan vänta sig. Detta stället är bra. Fyrbäddsdoorm. Bra utrustat kök, rena redskap. Mycket plats i kylen. Bra frukost för att ingå (macka, ost, skinka, salami, marmelad, smör, en frukt, juice, kaffe, mjölk..) Supertrevlig personal, otroligt hjälpsam. Rekommenderas varmt!!

Super hostel with awesome hosts
We had a super stay at the 29 madeira hostel. The room was clean, bed was nice. The only missing thing for us was a trashcan but easily solved by a plastic bag. Hosts of this hostel are very kind, they are willing to help you with anything.

Schoon en leuk ingericht hostel vlakbij centrum
Het hostel is heel erg leuk, het personeel ontzettend behulpzaam. Op 5 minuutjes lopen zit je in het centrum van Funchal en bij het OV.

Très bonne adresse, personnel au top! Le petit déjeuner peut éventuellement être amélioré. Située au cœur de la vieille ville, très pratique pr une visite à pied de funchal. Chambre très correcte, idem pr les sanitaires communs.
