It's an older building but has had updates done, some not so well but they're trying. It's clean, staff friendly/helpful.

In an industrial area No stores around except a Walmart. Just not a nice area. Staff was great. Hard to get a taxi out there.

Dingy and Smelly and not well maintained.
It was dingy. There was a smell. You could tell that the hotel has not been well maintained or thoroughly cleaned regularly. The staff was friendly and helpful though. Light switch was broken. Shower door handle was loose. Shower surround needed to be caulked. Dirty corners like cleaning was routinely rushed through and not detailed. Tile grout was grimy. Elevator was damaged and in need of maintenance. Toilet was broken and had to switch rooms

Good stay
The staff was really nice and helpful. Sunday breakfast was good. The room we got, though, the door wouldn't shut completely all the time, but while inside we could lock it with the other locks. Pool, at the time of stay, was closed due to maintenance. Overall stay was good.

We had a good 1 night stay at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Houston-Alvin. Breakfast was great. Areas to improve - room had a musky smell, only provided 3 shower towels when I booked for 6 people staying in the room, and pool could be cleaner.
