Our family of four stayed at Copper Horse Lodge for four nights and it was a great stay! Our visit in June 2024 was a part of a 14-day road trip and we used Copper Horse as our base camp for 3 days of exploring the surrounding National Parks. We liked the coziness of the lodge and how it felt somewhere between a standard conventional hotel and a bed and breakfast. There was about 12 total rooms with standard cleaning services. The lodge was quiet and homey. The bathrooms were clean and updated. A self-service breakfast was complementary consisting of yogurt, cereal, breads, etc.
Some things to consider -- 1. the property is adjacent to a ski resort and the temps are cool in the evening. There is no AC, so with four bodies, we had to sleep with the windows open, which suited us just fine, but others might want to consider that. 2. with four adults on a 14-day trip, there was a lot of stuff we brought with us. The room felt quite full, but ours was a unique situation. 3. If you are using this as a base camp for the National Parks, be aware that Jasper (city) and Banff (city) are some hours away - we did a LOT of driving, but the value and comfort couldn't be beat!
We would definitely return to CHL the next time we are in Golden!
