Room is cute. A fridge would be nice but not sure where to put it. Easy check in and out. Great linens and bath supplies. Good coffee and fancy muffin in the morning. The restaurant is very expensive, food ok and wait staff excellent. It’s right in town with wonderful location on the river. Love the history of the hotel and Ft Benton.

What we liked was its history and its location along the water. Didnt like the lack of attentiveness of staff, and over priced for the experience. It wasnt a bad place, we liked it, it was probably the best in Fort Benton. It was not worth the high rate.

This hotel is so charming! It gives you the feel that you’ve stepped back in time, but has all the modern conveniences. Getting a jacuzzi tub was a special surprise! My husband was celebrating a big birthday year, and I could not be happier with our stay!

Really cool historic hotel, beautifully restored. The restaurant is expensive, but they have an outstanding chef. We had one of the best meals we've ever had from California to Chicago and beyond.

Rooms authentically and tastefully renovated. Spacious room, comfortable bed, nice amenities. Restaurant with ambience but too expensive for meals provided. Staff friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again but look for dining elsewhere.

Sleep where you are steeped in history
This is a charming historic hotel with a wonderful, friendly staff. The dining room is pricey, but the meal was delicious. The Grand Union is walking distance to all of Fort Benton's amazing historic sites and museums.

We were excited to be staying at this historical, steamboat-era hotel in a typical Western town. However, our stay did not meet our rosy expectations. The room, looking out over main street (noisy at times), was small, dark and awkwardly laid out. The small bathroom was not updated for a while, and dark. And everywhere, there were little notes to remind guests that they would be charged for damages to towels or sheets or whatever. It did not feel welcoming and fun - and kind of dusty and not sparkling fresh. Coffee and a (delicious) muffin were served for guests in the morning, but the Lewis and Clark room where you had to go was dingy and again, dark. Our biggest problem occurred when we tried to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant. We had reservations and a great waiter, but after two hours of waiting we finally received our entrees and then one of them was inedible (all fat). We were not charged, but all in all the dinner was a total failure. Kitchen was completely overwhelmed. This was to be a special occasion stay for us and it really did not materialize. The back patio overlooking the river was lovely.
