Very well-maintained cottage with a lot of attention to detail and exactly as shown in the photos.
The cottage had all the essential amenities, comfortable beds and a nice view of the lake. Everything was in working order, plenty of cups, dishes and cutlery, all very nice. Only thing missing was a wooden spoon, had to use chopsticks to make scrambled eggs to not scratch the frying pan. BBQ was conveniently located just outside the side door on a small porch.
There is a decently sized fire pit with Muskoka like chairs to sit on, though the grass needed a cut as it was well overgrown. The outside of the cottage is still a work in progress, but there is plenty of space for activities, badminton, frisbee and the likes. There is also a wood picnic bench outside that is great for an outdoor meal during the day.
Lake access is very rustic. Need to walk about 7 minutes from the cottage and then there is an unkept, downhill grassy laneway between two private properties that leads you to a small, rocky opening where you can get into the lake for a swim. Not ideal if you have kids with you.
Need to ensure you are well stocked as there are no stores close by. The ferry is about a 12-to-15-minute drive from the cottage and to get to Picton is 40-45 minutes at best.
Overall, it was a nice cottage getaway and an enjoyable change of pace for a few days from the hustle and bustle of the city. Would recommend Deirdre's cottage to all looking for a calm, quiet and relaxing place to unwind.
