Our lovely farmhouse is set on a hill, surrounded by woods, with no light pollution so benefits from the most glorious stargazing on summer evenings. The house is set up with families in mind and we love that the space has so many different areas to accommodate everyones needs: from the pool, the open barn for playing table tennis and games, to the numerous shady spots for relaxing with a book. We try where possible to encourage the use of septic tank friendly products only (natural and biodegradable) and would appreciate your support in making our home as eco-friendly as we can.
The wonderful thing about this area is that there is so much to do, to suit everyone’s needs. Our kids love the recreational lakes – we cycle to our local one, at Lac du Neufont, which has a beach, café, and curly slides into the lake, but the lake at La Bugue has better amenities, with waterslides, trampolines, games etc, and look in the wicker hamper for more info! There is also a great beach lake 20 mins away, the Lac de Pombonne, with a great little restaurant/bar for the evening. We always go canoeing every year, either on the Dordogne (the 5 chateau canoe trip is a must!) or the Vesere rivers, and of course the prehistoric caves which abound all along the Dordogne are a big hit. There are Chateaux to visit, underground caves to explore, pretty villages everywhere, gorgeous gardens, vineyards... the list is endless!
This is also a wine and foody heaven, with numerous markets, cafes and restaurants nearby in the beautiful Dordogne villages. We are cyclists so love to cycle from the house down to the river and take in the sights, or drive about 30 mins to Limeuil and start our bike rides from there. You will love exploring, whether on bike or by car, as there is just so much to see and do in the area, though many guests often get lured into the tranquility and peace of the house and never leave!
