We had a most unpleasant arrival at this lodge. From our experience, the rooms are much too expensive and the place does not deserve three stars.
We, a family of four adults, had booked and paid for two double rooms two months in advance. Hotels.com had sent us a reminder a couple of days in advance stating that everything was OK. That did not help us much. When we arrived around 18:30, our rooms had been given away to a group of people that had not booked in advance. An internal misunderstanding, the manager explained and regretted deeply.
We were offered a double room supplied with two mattresses. Since we had no alternative, we accepted, but expressed our disappointment. After a while, the manager was able to vacate an extra semi-private room. However, our sons were given a substandard double bed (our sons said it felt less than queen size), and the room where I slept, lacked basic furniture like nightstand lamps and a desk, and the shower room was not connected to water, which left us with a hand-hold shower in the bath tub.
A nice and long conversation I had with the owner in the evening, revealed that she had given away our pre-booked rooms while the manager was out shopping. My advice to the owner is to stay away and leave the management of the lodge to the hired manager. My advice to the manager would be to find another workplace if the owner does not follow my advice.
