This place is clearly working hard to have an upscale appearance, but is a little bit unusual, and doesn't quite live up to their upscale persona (thankfully - otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it). The staff provide excellent customer service. One unusual thing is that they have a card switch slot on the wall that you put a card in so that the electricity or AC works or something. This was a first for me, but apparently it's more common in certain countries. Also, they have a rule that you can't bring any outside food or beverages into your room, only food from their restaurant. So if you have a special diet or a tight food budget, I don't think this would be the right place for you. Having said that, the pool looked very nice, but it was raining when I was there so I didn't use it. One major design flaw of their rooms is that it doesn't seem like the bathroom has any ventilation, so all the steam from the shower and smells from the toilet just drift into the room. Now, the things that makes this a worthwhile place to stay....1)It's a good pit stop on the way to or from the Caribbean side of the country, as rain and construction are common, making the trip longer and more stressful than you might think. 2) They have a very nice well maintained path along the river that is behind their hotel. It's a very nice little walk for viewing birds and lizards and whatnot.
