Highlight of our Costa Rica trip!
Staying at La Anita Rainforest Ranch was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We stayed for three nights and had an incredible experience. The hospitality of Pablo and Anna are unmatched; we felt so welcome and taken care of during our stay. The food was phenomenal, with a menu of fresh local foods that changed daily. Everything was very clean and taken care of. The property offers plenty to explore, and the lack of WiFi in the cabins makes it easy to unplug and enjoy the company of your companions. We HIGHLY reccomend the cacao tour- it was very informative and changed our perspective on chocolate and the industry at large. The ranch will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

I loved our cabin very much. My only suggestion would be to have mattress covers under the fitted sheets. Sleeping almost directly on a mattress is not very hygienic. There should be a barrier between the mattress and the fitted sheet that can be removed and sanitized.

Authentic, beautiful place with charming hosts
What an authentic and beautiful place with the most genteel, charming and gracious hosts! Several forest walking paths and an orange tree outside the cottage with a never-ending stream of varied bird life to watch. And chocolate factory on site - very interesting.

Calm, cool perfection
This place is perfection in so many ways: the grounds are impeccable and just like you see them in the pictures. Few, if any, mosquitos. Cool high elevation air. The cabins are large, quiet, private and have mini refrigerators along with quiet surroundings and great privacy. Above all, owner/operator Pablo is charming, nice, attentive, but also lets you have your space. Everything you ask for, you get that same day! For example, our shower head was broken, but still just fine. It was fixed by the time we got back from hiking that afternoon! There were hammocks and comfortable chairs on the private deck of the huts. Just a very quiet, calm, familial stay in what felt like a very upscale resort. Pablo made it feel like we were staying with a friend of the family! This place is very highly recommended and could be a relaxing destination of its own. Just know that it is almost two hours to the Rincon de la Viejo national parks; but very well worth it (beautiful drive too). Dinner is at 6 pm. (traditional Costa Rican food: some veggies, some potatoes or rice, and some meat - ask ahead of time if you have other desires). A very fulfilling breakfast is served around 7.30. Upon request or if time allows; see the on-site chocolate factory! Don't miss the cocoa nibs for breakfast or in the nice store! Enjoy.

Wish we could have stayed longer than 3 nights here. This place is a wonderful representation of the nicest Costa Rican hospitality and dedication to the environment. Individual cottages are perfect, even with an occasional insect! Food was fresh and delicious. Best dark chocolate ever is made here.

What an amazing experience at La Anita Rainforest Ranch. My 18 year daughter and I stayed for three nights and wish we would have stayed longer. It was one of the best experiences of our two week trip to Costa Rica. Pablo, his family and staff went above and beyond to make our stay welcoming and comfortable. The cabins were beautifully rustic and had all the amenities we needed. The property is beautiful and Pablo was very helpful to set up activities for us during our stay. We went horseback riding through the rainforest with Edgar, who is a horse whisperer and it was incredible with spectacular views. Then we enjoyed a Caribbean cooking class with Araselli, who was a lovely person and makes fantastic food. The breakfasts and dinners at the lodge were delicious and we felt like part of the family by the end of our stay. We loved every minute of and would love to come for another visit. Highly recommend this place for a true local Costa Rican experience.

Paulo, the owner, was very welcoming and accommodating. The activities he suggested were excellent. The food was very good. Our cabin accommodation was excellent and the grounds are expansive and beautifully landscaped. Some of the road to reach La Anita was very rough but the ride was worth it. We would highly recommend visiting La Anita Rainforest Ranch.

Highly recommend visiting this beautiful place in Costa Rica. Took a little bit to get there from the airport but it was well worth it. Yes the road leading up to the ranch has major potholes but it was a lot of fun to drive on. Make sure you get an SUV if you can. Pablo was a wonderful host, I consider him a friend now after staying there for three nights. I got two wonderful massages from Sonia which were excellent. Pablo has two wonderful dogs that became my buddies. The food is fresh, the cacao tour was the bomb! make sure you take home lots of their delicious choc bars. Sad that mine is almost gone. We checked out a nearby hot spring/ mud bath which was a lot of fun. My favorite part of the ranch was lying in bed at night listening to all of the birds and rainforest critters around me. Very affordable place to vacation to. I guess my only complaint would be that there was no where to go after dinner to hang out other than your room and because the cabins are somewhat close to each other your neighbors could be disturbed if you talk a little loud. We are not generally early to bed people so that was a bit of a challenge. It was very quiet abd peaceful overall on the ranch and I didn’t see any children. Also next time I visit I will bring a couple extra towels, probably could’ve got some from the staff but didn’t want to bother them.
