The staff was friendly and the outdoor area is beautiful, but the hotel has a black mold problem that it struggles to keep under control in Guilin's humid climate. The location is perfect, but the neighbors are the biggest problem with this hotel. There is a boxing studio next door. They play loud Western music, Chinese opera, scream as they fight, and there are loud thumping sounds. There should be peace and quiet from about 10:00 pm at night to 8:00 am in the morning, but there was a crazy man who was having a loud argument with himself in the middle of the night. I did not hear a second voice so he may have been on the phone. I visit Guilin three to four times a year. Two hotels I stayed at closed and the new one I like was booked. Not coming back to this hotel.
It was one of the best moderately-priced facilities we stayed at. The rooms were clean and bottles of water were provided gratis in the room. The room has western toilets and a standing shower with doors to separate from the toilet. We could buy discounted tickets for some tourist attractions at the front desk. It's not a huge discount but any is better than none. The front desk staff were helpful, some spoke English better than others but they all spoke English. There was a water dispenser you could fill up for free in the lobby. Towels and sheets were clean and did not smell musty, unlike some of the moderately-priced facilities we stayed in China and Hong Kong. The room was spacious and had lots of power outlets. The wifi was shoddy at times but I found that to be the same at all places I've stayed at in China. I'd say the wifi here was one of the better ones. It is located in a central area and next to a lot of food and drink restaurants.
