About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Great price with a beach view and screened porch! Bring the family and dog!

This vintage beach house, nestled in the dunes of Cabana Beach Estates, offers guests the relative seclusion of a private beach community. When you first take the winding gravel road through the neighborhood you’ll feel as though you have stepped back to your childhood before beach living went condo. The community has a dedicated beachfront access for the homes that are not located directly on the Gulf beach. A short walk two houses down and across the street make for quick and easy access to the water and back home again. Pull the large-wheeled wagon loaded with your towels and toys from under the house to the beach in just a few minutes.

If you enjoy fishing you can go across Ft Morgan Road to Cabana Beach Estate's dedicated bay front area. Here you will find a dock where you can sit and enjoy unobstructed views of the bay's incredible sunsets. Fishermen will love this side of the peninsula. Toss in a crab trap, fishing line or use your cast net to gather dinner. It is truly the best of both worlds, bay and beach.

This 1000 sq. ft. home was built in the 1970s and is across the street from the Gulf of Mexico. You will enjoy the vintage feel of a home that has not gone condo. You will appreciate lazy days at the beach where the view and the sound of the surf are the most important things.

Even though it is raised on pilings its steps are an easy climb. Upstairs you will find an open central living room with TV and DVD player and comfy seating for seven. The home also has Wi-Fi for those who want to keep up with the world while on vacation.
On the west side you will find one king and one queen bedroom with adjoining half bath. On the east side is a smaller room with three twin beds, a newly remodeled full bath and kitchen with beautiful new cabinets and granite countertops.

Built before air conditioners were commonplace (don't worry, it has central heat and air now!) the home is designed to catch the cross breeze. You can open up the windows and enjoy the fresh air blowing through the rooms. You’ll love to relax on the screened front porch and enjoy the natural vegetation of the front yard and a fantastic view of the Gulf of Mexico. Sunrise and sunset have never been so beautiful!

Downstairs is a full laundry and an outdoor shower with both hot and cold water. It is great for cleaning up the sandiness of a day on the beach before going upstairs. Hang your towels and suits on the clothesline to dry. Under the house is parking for two cars or it can be a great place for kids to play outside in the shade when they've had enough sun. Owners keep a wagon of beach toys for others to use at the beach.

If you want to get out and enjoy the sights or eat out you will find both an excellent fine dining restaurant and a less formal eatery at The Beach Club Resort located adjacent to the neighborhood. On holiday weekends, you have an unequaled view of the resort's fireworks displays. A few more miles down Fort Morgan Road are the Sassy Bass and Tacky Jacks; both have full bars and good food. Just east of the neighborhood is The Pines. Its convenience store, gas pumps, pizza place and restaurant mean you may never have to venture far to find the items you need.
Historic Fort Morgan is only a fifteen minute drive. The historic fort and museum are great fun for kids and an educational outing. The Fort has reenactments every Tuesday evening and other special events. The summer of 2014 marks their 150th anniversary so this summer will feature even more excitement at the fort.

Another great local day excursion is a ferry ride to Dauphin Island. Catch the ferry at the end of Fort Morgan Road (about a 15 minute drive) and spend 45 minutes crossing the mouth of Mobile Bay to the island. While there, visit Fort Gaines, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium, a showcase of the plants, animals, and other natural resources found in the Estuary and its surrounding marine habitats. To make a day of it go on up to a favorite place, Bellingrath Gardens and Homes on the mainland. If you want to make the full circle, travel on up to Mobile and enjoy that historic city and the WWII battleship USS Alabama before returning to the Gulf Shores area.
When you pull yourself away from the beach house try a trip in the opposite direction and go 20 minutes into Gulf Shores. Here you find all the usual beachy stuff from souvenir shops to restaurants, adventure golf, grocery stores, sea kayak rentals and waterparks. Explore the whole island and visit Orange Beach, the Gulf State Park, the Hangout, Lulu's, or even take a quick trip over the line into Florida.

For nature lovers the Bon Secour National Wildlife Preserve is only five minutes away. They have several hiking trails and guided walking tours. Bird watching is a favorite pastime of visitors to the area as well. Pick up the local Mullet Wrapper or Islander newspapers for schedules of local events and activities.

Perfect little getaway
We loved our time at Pott’s Spot. The outside was a little dated, but that didn’t matter to us! The inside was a little updated with everything to meet your needs minus a dishwasher, which is of course in the listing. We loved the A frame screened in porch, outdoor shower, and closet full of beach stuff the most. It was a quick walk/golf cart ride to the public beach access just a couple houses down and across.

A little piece of paradise
This vintage beach house was very clean, had everything you need, cozy and so close to the beach. The porch was everything, you have a beautiful view of the gulf and can hear the waves crashing! Mrs. Martha is such a doll and was available anytime! My husband, our furbabies and I will definitely be booking again!!

Just right
One house over and across the road, just as described, and you're at the boardwalk and on the beach. The screened in patio is what sold us on Pott's Spot as we're more than familiar with the mosquitoes of the south. You have a wonderful view of the ocean and they have all the beach supplies you could need down in the laundry room (which took me a while to figure out, but is unlocked by the house key you're provided-- the separate lock box on the laundry room door was confusing). We enjoyed the privacy of the outdoor shower (as opposed to the open showers we noticed) and the bath towels are soft and fluffy (I'll probably seek out a set for our home). We didn't go further down the road than this place, but it felt like a small quiet road. So, we were surprised by how busy and crowded the beach got. There are two huge condos to the right of this neighborhood, but we were under the impression this section of the beach was private to the neighborhood. Luckily, when the weather wasn't cooperative or we wanted to get away from the crowds, Pott's Spot had some great board games we enjoyed as a family. Yep, we saw plenty of places flashier on the outside and there are probably lots of places fancier on the inside, but this place really grew on me and was just right.

Perfect spot
We traveled with our 18 month old and senior pup , this location was perfect, easy for both to walk and nit too far for mom and dad to carry everything back and forth to the beach. They also had a great wagon and toys too. The kitchen was well stocked. The pans and utensils etc were better than ive ever experienced with vacation rentals. Grill was so clean!!! Martha was very quick to resond. Previous renters or cleaners left some dog hair inside and cigarette butts outside, but those are hard to spot. Only reccomendation, bring a fan for the back porch if in the warmer months, the fan back there helps but not enough to really utilize that space (which had a beautiful view- youll want to be out there).

Great view, cozy, short walk to the beach
Home was clean with plenty of room. The screened deck was a great place to hangout with a great view. There was plenty of dishes for cooking if you plan on cooking there. There are plenty of items to take to the beach already there. The outdoor shower is great after being at the beach all day for a quick cool off and to remove all the sand! The walk to the beach is very reasonable.

Vacation at Pott's Spot
This is a great little property. No, it's not plush like the big condos, but it's very clean and comfortable. And no, it doesn't front the beach, but it's right there and you can even sit on the deck and view it. The walk is nothing. You can pay a lot more elsewhere, but for a small party, this is perfect. Also, the contact person was very friendly and helpful. We had some confusion around the checkout process, which was our fault. I hope everyone is all good on that now.

This is a vintage property with one tub/shower and 2 toilets. There is no dishwasher. The internet is slow and TV very limited. We loved it! It reminds me of the days we would go to Gulf Shores in the 70's ( it's nicer than those beach houses back then). It's 2 minute walk to the beach, it is quiet has a great screened in front porch and it was everything we needed.

Great getaway
The house was great and super comfortable. We brought our own beach chairs, umbrellas and beach towels, but everything else we needed was within reach. Great views from every window, amazing porch, and beautiful breezes. We took our dog for her first ever “paws on the sand” beach vacation, and she was blown away. Cannot emphasize enough how awesome it was to have our dog with us all day every day versus her being stuck inside. Early October is a great time to go, the water was cool, tons of breeze, beautiful orange monarch butterflies and dragonflies everywhere, dolphins, pelicans and lots of crabs for Zoe to watch. There were some biting flies, so be sure to bring and wear repellent if on the unscreened portions of the porch and also at the beach. We wanted a natural, unspoiled environment, and this was definitely it. Super easy walk to the beach too, much more so than staying in a high rise condo. Comfy couches and bed really helped us to relax and unwind.........just great! Would definitely go again!

Sunrises and sunsets
This is the second time for us and our friends in this wonderful house on a lovely beach. If you like a beautiful porch to watch sunrises and sunsets and read a book, this is the place. You can see the surf from the house before taking the short walk to the beach. Martha is great to work with - made it very easy for us. It reminds us of classic beach houses while providing the wifi and tv we needed and new touches that made it very comfortable. We will definitely come here again.
