Incredible hospitality. Upon arrival we received fruits and tea to enjoy while waiting for check-in. Anh our receptionist was lovely and helped us during our entire stay. She offered great suggestions and advice that made the stay more enjoyable.

We were initially enamored with the lobby and waiting area, only to be disappointed by the rest of the hotel. Bath towels were frayed, no one came to clean the rooms despite our request the second day, and worse of all, there was a gross puddle of yellow liquid (urine?) in the elevator for a few hours another night. We also tried booking a tour through the hotel and was initially encouraged to pay cash and “go under the table” with one of the employees. We ended up booking at the front desk only to be shaken down for more money after we had already gone on the tour bc “they had quoted the wrong price.” Extremely unprofessional, and left a terrible taste in our mouth. We were trying to avoid booking scams by going through the hotel only to find out that apparently that’s not safe either. Do better, Meritel.

A very nice hotel on the edge of the Old Quarter and close to the modern centre. Extremely nice and helpful staff that make all the difference. Excellent breakfast and very nice rooms. They also offer a range of very nice tours.

Wonderful respite from the busy streets.
The minute I stepped into the lobby, the hustle and bustle of the streets disappeared. The hotel is tastefully designed with art deco pieces. Lovely mosaic on the floor, fantastic breakfast layout. Totally enjoyed my stay. A pity about being able to hear the traffic from my room late at night (we stayed on the 5th floor). Balcony is standing-room only.

Want to feel like a VIP? Stay at the Meritel Hanoi! This has been one of my favourite hotel stays, even compared to first class hotels I’ve stayed at around the world. From the moment I arrived, Mike made us feel like VIPs. He was extremely kind and helpful with many good suggestions for the city. The location is perfect, right in Old Town, walkable to everything. The other staff including Anh, Judy, Mai, Hanh, and everyone else made this a 5 star stay. The breakfast was very impressive. The rooftop pool was lovely on a hot day. I will stay here every time I come to Hanoi!
