I greatly enjoyed my recent one-night stay at the Solano Inn, in Portland, CT. I was coming from Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut, to this quiet Inn near the (eastern) bank of the Connecticut River. Middletown is not far to the west, over the big bridge. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted at reception by Praia (? - Sorry about spelling!). She and a colleague assisted me with my luggage and some items to carry. As I have mobility challenges, I can park in 'blue' spaces (outside the Inn's main entrance).
The room was spacious, seemingly newly-renovated, with a comfortable king bed and big TV. From my window, I could even see the river through the trees. This Inn has a great location. A popular breakfast place is just across the road from it (I did not go, this time), and downtown Portland is only about six minutes away west, on CT Route 66. There are several excellent restaurants around. I had a good dinner at one downtown. Upon check-out, they helped me carry my stuff out to my car! Next time I visit this area, I would stay at the Solano Inn.
Quiet and comfy, it is a nice place to stay. Thank You!
