The BEST!
We wouldn’t have enjoyed Heidelberg half as much without staying our 3 nights @ Hackteufel.
Such a beautiful, historic building with an excellent restaurant and “Weinstube”.
Also spectacular outdoor seating in historic Steingasse, looking at Karl-Theodor Brücke (Alte Brücke) on one end and Heiliggeist Kirche on the other end.
We just LOVED our deluxe twin room on the 2nd floor (Liselotte Stube 4), which was located to the back of the building. All we could hear outside was beautiful bird song - no noise from Steingasse whatsoever.
Our amazing room and the cool bathroom were spacious, comfortable and so well appointed.
Hackteufel is a fabulously maintained and brilliantly-run hotel by the very hospitable owner, Frau Hellmich and her personable, helpful team.
We also greatly enjoyed the tasty breakfast buffet, dinner and drinks at Hackteufel.
If travelling by car: Park house P12 is only 350m away (next to “Bergbahnen”). Parking discount available at hotel reception.
In the morning, it is possible to drive up to Hotel Hackteufel until 11am, which we did to load luggage into the car for departure. After 11am, the old part of the city is closed to traffic.
Everything is in such close walking distance: Alte Brücke and Brückenaffe 100m, Heiliggeist Kirche 160m, Mall (Hauptstrasse) 200m, “Bergbahnen” (mountain cable car) 350m for a ride up to Königstuhl and stunning Schloss Heidelberg …
Our stay couldn’t have been better :-)
