Overall…disappointed
Hotel charged me for room even though I already paid hotels.com. Had to wait on a manager to come in, who was late, to refund it. And have to wait 3-5 days to get the money back. Only 1 elevator and it was slow and super old. Ac didn’t work in room. They changed batteries in thermostat and it still didn’t work properly the entire stay. Expenses better from a holiday inn.

We stayed here to bookend an AT section hike. It is a very hiker friendly property with secure parking and in a great location. Your front desk manager - the gentleman - does need some training on customer experience. We showed up and checked in on the first day and he talked to me like I was walking in from the street begging for charity instead of a paying customer. He barked orders at me about how to swipe my card as an example. And I know it wasn't me being too sensitive because his colleague looked at me apologetically and I think she went out of her way during the rest of our stay to check in on me every time we walked past and gave me some extra support during a market purchase there. If it weren't for the fact that I had prepaid both hotel stays and Hiawassee isn't teaming with other hiker accommodation options during off season, I would have walked out at checkin. It was insulting, demeaning and utterly unacceptable for any establishment to treat people that way. We are due to return to the area to continue our section hike and if I can help it, I will try my damnest to stay somewhere else even though the rest of the staff, the accommodations and facilities were absolutely amazing. I don't really want to subject myself to being treated like that again.
