Charming Farmhouse on Beautiful Horse Farm

The Flying Duck Farmhouse is a restored vintage farmhouse located at the foot of Three Sisters Mountains less than 4 miles from downtown Dahlonega. Surrounded by horse pastures, wineries, hiking trails, waterfalls, breathtaking views and one of the most delightful small towns in the USA. Spend a weekend in our clean mountain air enjoying the unique shops and restaurants in Dahlonega and local wineries (Cavender Creek, Wolf Mountain, Frogtown and Kaya Vineyards are all less than 5 miles away). Or, you can enjoy hiking, rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing, zip lining, trout fishing, or just relaxing. Our Farmhouse is the perfect get away in a great location.

The farmhouse can accommodate up to 5 people. There are two bedrooms each with a queen bed and one pullout sofa in the living room. To make your sleep more comfortable, we use PeachSkin Bedding and hypoallergenic pillow covers. There is a fully equipped kitchen if you want to eat-in. The decor is cozy with a quirky edge to add some happy to your stay.

Just a short walk away is a large deck overlooking a beautiful stream - a perfect place to pan for gold or have cocktails. You may run into Katie, our miniature donkey, who loves to have her ears rubbed or see horses grazing in the pastures.

There is a large pond on the farm that has lots fish. You are welcomed to bring your poles/bait and try your luck. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Catch and release only please.

We have just added a fire pit at the farmhouse for your use.

We love our horse farm and enjoy sharing it with others.

Location, Location, Location!
The lovely cottage is only 10 minutes from downtown Dahlonega. Yet, far enough out enough out to feel like a rural mountain getaway. The Duck Family Farm exceeded our expectations. We will be back!

Paradise in North Georgia
Flying Duck Farm was charming, quiet, and an easy drive from the quaint town of Dahlonega. Our hosts were quick to respond to all our questions both before and during our visit and the cabin itself was extremely comfortable. We were especially impressed by all of the "extra" amenities (like the record player and gold panning equipment) and the obvious care Mr. and Mrs. Duck took in preparing the property for guests. Overall we had a wonderful time and highly recommend this property.

Found GOLD in Dahlonega!
Wow! We absolutely loved our stay on this beautiful property. We were in town for a wedding and the property was convenient to all the places we visited (mostly wineries!). We walked around the farm and a big highlight was walking right up to the horses and feeding them carrots. The inside of the farmhouse is cozy, quirky and comfy. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch enjoying our coffee and listening to all the wildlife and horses. Couldn't have imagined a better stay! We will be back.

Cozy, clean and central
The cabin was cozy and clean, had everything we needed and was close to everything we wanted to see. They had a brand new Keurig that made cappuccinos! It was great to interact with the horses. A beautiful place.

A Peaceful and Tranquil Stay
This beautiful horse farm was the perfect accommodation for our mother/daughter trip. With a location close to downtown Dahlonega and hiking at Desoto Falls, this quaint cottage has great proximity to dining, shopping, and outdoor adventures (great fishing on property). The cottage hosts provided amazing touches to our stay, supplying starter toiletries, various games and puzzles, coffee pods, and current Southern magazines. The kitchen was well stocked with newer cookware, and the beds provided amazing sleep! We are grateful to the Duck family and their hospitality and are already missing the miniature donkey Katie and her horse friends. We look forward to visiting again soon!

One of our favorite weekend getaways!
We've stayed 3 times now and will definitely be back many more times! The house is adorable, well equipped, and so convenient for a visit to wineries, downtown, hiking trails - everything. And you don't need to go far for entertainment- Katie and friends are the perfect hosts for a walk around the property and the fishing is plentiful. Love The Flying Duck!

Beautiful quiet little gem
My husband and I came from New Hampshire to visit Dahlonega a second time this March. Our previous rental left a lot to be desired and this home could not have been nicer! We loved the quiet location and views out of every window of the fields, forest, pond and most of all horses! The house itself is perfectly and tastefully appointed. We especially appreciated the large kitchen with a gas stove, deck on the back and porch on the front. The bed was very comfortable. The owners responded immediately to a few of our questions. We definitely will return to this lovely spot for our next visit, possibly next fall.

Beautiful and peaceful
My daughter (18) and I stayed at this lovely property while on a trip to tour UNG nearby. It was the perfect size for the two of us, though it would easily accommodate 4. The beds (memory foam) were comfortable, the linens were cozy (with lots of extra blankets in case we got cold), and plentiful towels. Since we were only there a short time and spent most of our time hiking, we didn't fully use the kitchen, although it seemed very well-stocked. The decor was adorable, and the owners were super nice and responded right away when we contacted them. They made check-in and check-out as simple and easy as humanly possible. It's also an easy property to find and park at, which is something not all mountain rentals can say! All-in-all, it couldn't have been a more relaxing stay. Don't forget to take a little walk on-property and say hello to the animals! It's such a beautiful area, waking up early to watch the sun rise on the horse farm was a pleasure.

A get-away trip with out going very far
Spent a beautiful sunny weekend at this relaxing spot with my daughter for her 30-somethingth bday. We loved walking the grounds, meeting the animals (we even spotted some beavers) and visiting the square in Dahlonega. But the best part was just relaxing and enjoying the quiet in our perfect little comfy house. Hosts have done a great job of making everything easy and welcoming.

Perfect Start to our new chapter
My now Fiancé and I just got engaged a few days ago! We came here to celebrate just the two of us for New Year’s Eve. The home was so cozy and set up for us to just play and be together. We loved Katie and the horses! We fed them apples and carrots and even tried panning for gold in the creek all on the property! the fire pit and hike were also such a nice touch. We definitely want to come back again. Thank you so much for the perfect stay! We felt like kids again ❤️

Just downright wonderful…
My husband and I were celebrating his birthday and our anniversary. The cottage is lovely and has everything you could possibly need. We arrived after dark and what a pleasant surprise to wake up to see acre upon acre of a beautifully maintained horse farm. Mike ( owner) encouraged us to walk wherever, pet the horses and fish in the creek. He was so friendly, checking on us and sharing the history of the place. Easy drive to Dahlonega where we enjoyed Wolf Mountain Winery and an Irish Pub called Shenanigans. Will encourage our family and friends to have a getaway at Flying Duck Farm. It is a jewel.

Beautiful, Serene Farmhouse
I loved the 70+ year old farmhouse. The decor was on point and the house was very clean. My mother, mother-in-law, and I enjoyed our stay despite the weather. The Christmas town of Dahlonega is something to see. The internet was slow, but I suppose that is normal in the mountains. We had DISH and was able to tune into the Hallmark channel. Plus, we welcomed the opportunity to unplug and simply enjoy one another's company.
