The hamlet of Monnington on Wye offers undisturbed tranquility and yet is easily connected to local activities or places of interest nearby and the River Wye. A superb farm shop is 1.8 miles from the house at the top of the lane and there are great pubs/cafes within an hours walk (many more by car) and places of interest all within 20 minutes drive.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom giving extra privacy for all guests. The kitchen in the main house is well equipped and stocked and geared up for catering and numbers. The dining area seats 18 (24 by arrangement) both inside and outside. To help you entertain and cater there are 2 electric ovens, an aga during the winter months, 2 dishwashers and 3 fridge freezers plus large larder cupboard. In the summer months (May half term to October half term) on the terrace 2 weber style bbqs and parasol are available. We have a great local caterer who works in the house often and is surprisingly affordable and will enhance your stay. She has great reviews.
On site there is plenty to do- enjoy the large 2 acres of gardens and grounds which are private and quiet and play football in the huge playing fields. For rainy days and winter nights there is a rustic table tennis room and a games room with pool table and table football to enjoy in the outbuildings. Bring your fleece and wrap up.
There is wonderful walking straight from the door with a choice of trails available. Monnington on Wye is located on the Bredwardine to Byford Section of the Wye Valley Walk and also on the E1 part of the Wye Walker. Across the river guests enjoy Moccas Hill Wood National Nature Reserve where there is a large choice of walks suitable for all ages and abilities. For those who like to get their heart racing a trip of Hay Bluff is a must. After this great achievement you could retire to the Three Tunnes in Hay on Wye!
During the summer months the River Wye comes into its own. Guests love fishing and can purchase passes either from Bulmers Angling Club and fish on their beat at Monnington on Wye or apply to the Fishing Passport. Large group bookings often enjoy a full or half day canoeing or kayaking on the Wye which can include a suitable stop at a pub on the river bank for lunch. Wild swimming is increasingly popular. Visits to the market towns of Hay on Wye, Presteigne and Leominster are enjoyed and for those who love a cathedral a visit to the Mappa Mundi in Hereford is a must. There are still many independent shops in these market towns and great galleries and cafes to visit. Trekking with the llamas in the Black Mountains is very therapeutic (book well in advance) and visits to the Small Breeds Farm at Kington just down the road is loved by young and old. For garden lovers the Weir Gardens on the banks of the Wye is spectacular and near. Brobury House Gardens are about an hours walk away, the walk is beautiful. You can combine with with brunch, lunch or tea at the Garden Cafe and admire the Wye or walk up the hill to the Red Lion at Bredwardine.
Guests also enjoy visiting the Stagg at Titley, The Kilpeck Inn and the Cider Barn in Pembridge which are great pubs serving exceptional local food.
