Tasteful Casita on a Quiet Street Near Beaches with Views!

This 2 bedroom house is the corner casita in a group of 6 . It is gated and quiet. There is a palapa upstairs a with nice evening breeze and a great view of the ocean and sunset. The kitchen is fully functional and is open to the dining area and living room. The materials used are high quality and the ceiling in both the living room and master bedroom are domed with bricks and ceiling fans. There is also air conditioning! Through the mini courtyard is another gate that leads to the pool which is shared with the other 5 casitas. The neighbors are quiet and friendly.
Both bedrooms have queen size beds. There are 2 full bathrooms as well.
Maid service twice a week is included with the rental. Also included are wifi and apple TV.
This house is in a great location with walking distance to beaches and restaurants.

Pleasant outdoor spaces
Loved the property and its great outdoor spaces, especially the upstairs Palapa surrounded with blooming flowers. The shared pool is very clean and inviting. It was very quiet the whole time we were there. The air conditioning and ceiling fans in each room is welcome. We ate out most meals except for breakfast, but the kitchen is a nice space. We walked everywhere day and evening and felt safe, to all the restaurants, beaches, Mercado. It is hilly in places, but taxis are everywhere and very affordable. Look into downloading the ap named WhatsApp, as that’s how Maria (the property manager) likes to communicate as well as tour guides, etc. Caitlin and Maria responded quickly to my inquiries. I’d suggest the property provide a hair dryer, as it’s a bulky item to travel with. Thank you, we would definitely return to this property and Puerto Escondido.

Beautiful quiet neighborhood
The property was really lovely. Great neighborhood. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Be prepared for lots of hills. Check in was a bit chaotic as we arrived late and had to wait outside fo 25 minutes for Maria. Not a big deal we were just really tired from travelling.

Perfect location
Such a wonderful spot. Close to all beaches and restaurants. We walked everywhere! Loved the palapa and pool areas too. Ate all our meals up in the palapa and yoga there every morning. So restful and welcoming.

Great Casita for a taste of Puerto Escondido
The architecture, tile work and domed brick ceilings gave a really nice Mexican feeling. Check-in was easy, kitchen well-equipped, beds comfy, plenty of closet space, and having the shared pool was a terrific plus after a day in the heat. The roof palapa was a lovely too. Our disappointments were the inconsistency of internet availability, low water pressure and lack of good hot water.

Lovely Mexican Casita
Can’t say enough great things about this property. Loved the traditional Mexican look and feel of the property. We spent so much time in the upstairs palapa - the view is wonderful. We enjoyed the pool and getting to know the other owners. The home was clean and the AC was wonderful after being out in the heat. We loved the proximity to the beaches and restaurants- we walked everywhere. When we needed any help the property manager assisted us in getting more water and propane for the stove and hot water tank. We loved the stone pathway at the end of the street to get to the beach!

Great place near the beach
We had a lovely stay in Hidalgo. Very well provisioned apartment with a wonderful shaded view from the upstairs porch and a nice shared pool. Easy walking distance to the best beach in Puerto Escondido if you are not a surfer. Very accurate description of the apartment. We are a couple in our 70's and found the neighborhood to be great -- a little funky but completely safe. Our only wrinkle was on pricing. Friends stayed with us for a few nights and the VRBO published rate didn't reflect full cost. This is a glitch that we assume can be easily fixed. All in all, great vacation and great space!

Lovely place
We really enjoyed our stay here…we felt really safe in the residential neighborhood. We could walk to some great neighborhood restaurants (definitely have sashimi at La Morena) and to one of our favorite beaches, Manzanillo. It was also easy to catch a taxi within a few minutes walk. The area is close to the main town , the Rinconada, and our fave Playa Carizalillo and the amazing restaurant Espadin at the Villas there. The shared pool was wonderful for cooling off after our outings and we even chatted with some of the permanent residents of the complex, who were very welcoming. Our favorite thing was to take our coffee up on the private rooftop in the mornings. The beds were comfy and there were lots of extra towels, including beach towels. The washing machine was CLUTCH and everything dried easily on the clothes lines outside . A couple cons; we never really got a warm shower and the oven did not work…but we were able to use a toaster oven instead. We couldn’t get the tv to work to watch a movie one night (the remote battery was low). We were there as parents and a teen daughter, and the space was perfectly sized for us, especially with the outdoor spaces. The owner was slow to reply to a couple of my questions before our trip, but check in was great with the property manager. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you want an authentic experience of Puerto. If you are someone who is more comfortable at a resort than this would not be for you. The house is in a real neighborhood…there are stray animals, huge potholes in the road, litter…but we prefer this kind of stay to a resort. Just something to consider. All in all we definitely recommend a stay here.

A serene slice of heaven!
I joked with my wife that I'd give this WONDERFUL place a zero star revue - just so that we could keep it a secret! In reality I'd give it SIX stars if I could. It was our first time in Puerto Escondido - and for our purposes - the property was IDEAL. It is in a quiet neighborhood - has amazing sunrise/sunset views, a great kitchen, ideal dining and living area, great bedrooms and baths. Within walking distance to some great beaches, cafes, restaurants and shops. I would seriously consider buying in this area if a home had similar amenities. Can't wait to return...

Sad to leave
For privacy, quiet and comfort with lovely views of the ocean from the upstairs palapa terrace, you just cannot beat Casa Caitlin. I really enjoyed my stay, with morning walks to Rinconada for Spanish classes at Oasis, and swimming in Playa Manzanillo and Carizalillo.

As described, this was a great property!
Excellent location! Walking distance to beaches, markets, shops and restaurants but still a quiet neighbourhood of tourists, expats and locals. The two bedroom unit was very well equipped and clean. It could use a bit of an update as there is the normal wear on the cabinets and appliances. We really enjoyed it! We will be back!!

WONDERFUL HOME + NEIGHBORHOOD!
Great responsiveness and friendly helpfulness from owner, manager, house and garden people for this super-clean, comfortable casa with lovely architectural and traditional features. Loved the red tile floors, domed brick ceilings with natural light, hummingbirds in the bougainvillea. Well provisioned and well maintained. Good new air conditioners in living area and master, overhead fan only in second bedroom, excellent window screens. Having two bathrooms, a washing machine, and safe parking really made us feel we had uncrowded convenience. We loved the rooftop palapa with ocean views and the pool, those neighbors whom we met, and the easy walk to the beach. (Go down through town.) The part of town above the Costera highway Is local and small and easy by car or the many inexpensive taxis, with fun clean outdoor markets and artisans’ shops and a well stocked grocery. Exceptional birding on the lagoon - we saw 62 species in one day by panga! - and the turtle protection - as well as surf - are OUTSTANDING! Gina at the town’s tourist kiosk will connect you to experiences like these and adds history and ecology with lots of good cheer. You will love her! We felt we had the best of everything in Puerto Escondido while staying in this great home..

Pretty casita with wonderful palapa
The casita was very pretty and full of local style with everything we needed. It is very clean and well maintained. Maria was really helpful, meeting us at the bus station and booking our taxi for our morning departure. But the hilight is that palapa!! We spent hours relaxing, eating and just enjoying the sea views from there.

Perfecto!! A special casita in a perfect location.
Loved Caitlin's home and location. Walking distance to 4 amazing beaches, to town and the market, to La Punta, to Spanish class (recommend Calli in Rinconada) and yoga, not to mention great restaurants. Keep in mind, lots of steps down to the beach if you have knee issues. As two single women (65 and 50) we felt safe in this area, walking most places. We found the casita to be true to its photos and description, tastefully decorated, the highlight being the upstairs open palapa for spectacular views of sunrises and sunsets. Caitlin and Maria are wonderful, responsive hosts, we had a couple of unforeseen issues upon arrival which were immediately taken care of. We were welcomed by Maria at the airport and with beer in the refrig! She was available throughout our stay to help out with any issue. I highly recommend Caitlin's home and hope to return next year. Don't miss this special casita!

Very comfortable and attractive place with all necessary amenities on a quiet street.
Loved the domed brick ceilings and the palapa upstairs was a wonderful retreat in the mornings and evenings for beautiful sunrises and sunsets and delightful breezes and sea views. The location is great— short walk to Manzanillo beach and the Andador—a path along the rocks to Playa Principal ( needs some repairs so a bit of a scramble in 2 places but doable—and even if you don’t make it all the way it’s still a very scenic walk). We were very comfortable here. Maria was very helpful and responsive and even picked us up at the airport and brought us to the house. Caitlin was also very pleasant, accommodating, and easy to work with. Would definitely rent this property again. And Puerto is great. Lots to do, great market, good restaurants.
