Great except for one issue (possibly minor)
Hotel was super cute and the staff were nice. The mattress was comfortable and the a/c was awesome. We also loved being in walking distance to Reeds Beach. The interior gardens/lobby areas were very pretty. But our shower didn't drain well, and that's a pet peeve for me - I don't love washing my hair as the water is backing up around my ankles. I guess if you have really short hair like my husband, it's all good. They did have great coffee in the am, and they even gave us each a cute little cup of kombucha, so that was nice.

Pleasant experience
Renovated older hotel, clean, good location, very friendly staff. Unique furnishing and decorations. Complimentary paddle board and bike rental. Coconut Grill attached to the hotel, Ponds restaurant 1min walk. We had great experience in both. If we plan another trip to Hilo we would definitely chose this hotel again.

Budget hotel at a not-so budget price.
Older hotel conveniently located next to Hilo airport. Expensive for what you get. Rooms on the smaller side with cheap finishes. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful however. A buget hotel experience.

This hotel goes to great lengths to be environmentally friendly. The pool area is beautiful. The pictures in the room are nice. There’s two different areas to play games, and they have board games that you can borrow. They also have a borrowing library. They have a fan in each room. That’s really nice at night. Great gardens just outside the rooms with plant identification there. You can book a massage right here at the hotel. Live music on some nights. Convenient access to a nice restaurant right next-door. Lovely Koi pond, right in front by the reception. New furniture in the rooms and fresh sheets. I enjoyed it here. The area felt safe too. Quick on and off to the main roads to get to the Volcano National Park about 35-40 minutes away.

Quirky but somewhat uncomfortable
Unique accommodation, and the hotel as a whole took a bit of getting used to, but we generally liked the vibe. Our big complaint is the room quality and comfort and the noise. The location is convenient but right by the airport - so there can be VERY loud airplane noise intermittently day and night. There is also way too much light in the rooms for restful sleep. Each room has a bright exterior light that shines into the room since the blinds do not go all the way down. And if anyone gets up to use the bathroom and turns on the light, the whole room is flooded with light. The shower water pressure was excellent though - probably the best thing about the room. Pool was small but night. Pretty cold & dim.

Room was filthy with obvious stains on bed sheets, dirty bathroom. Arranged a room for my adult daughter, and she was absolutely disgusted.
