Indulge in country living in this idyllic four-bedroom home in picturesque New Norfolk, just a 35 minute drive north-west of Hobart. Located in the heart of the Derwent Valley, the large historical home has stunning lush grounds and gardens connected to Tasmania’s colonial times from centuries ago. With touches of elegance, the home is warm and inviting and comfortably sleeps 10 people, ideal for a large family or a group of friends.
The Space:
A country retreat, the large two-storey home is spacious and light filled, close to the sweeping River Derwent, and has stunning mountain views. The home exudes charm and elegance, perfectly paired with a small town feel that allows you to instantly breathe and relax.
The main level features the living spaces along with a bright sun-room for afternoon reading or a pre-dinner wine. Large fully equipped kitchen that overlooks the formal dining room and family room would impress any chef, and features modern electric appliances.
Head out to the expansive deck with alfresco, the perfect vantage point to take in the sweeping garden and backyard that will keep children entertained for hours.
Main level also features the master bedroom complete with ensuite and walk-in-robe, and the laundry with powder room also located on the ground level.
Upstairs features the remaining three generous sized bedrooms, second bathroom and study nook.
Guest Access:
Guests have full access and private use of the entire property during their stay.
The Neighborhood:
Located in a quiet residential street, the home is close to Tynwald Park and the beautiful Derwent Cliffs Walk.
New Norfolk is a historical town with vast history to discover. Tasmania’s third oldest settlement, the town is home to Australia’s oldest Anglican Church, St Matthews, and one of the country’s oldest pubs, The Bush Inn which has been licensed since 1825. Visit Willow Court, a former Military Hospital that became Australia’s oldest institution for people with mental illness.
For antique enthusiasts, New Norfolk is known for its eclectic antique stores, and enjoy the delicious fresh local produce like fresh trout locally grown and produced at the Salmon Ponds from cafes and restaurants.
Getting Around:
The town is a short 15-20 minute walk from the home, you can also enjoy the scenic Derwent Cliffs Walk, a 2.2km trail that starts near the house. If you want to travel into Hobart or Glenorchy, you can use the Derwent Valley Link bus services to get you there however it is strongly recommended you have your own vehicle. Taxis and Uber are also available. Hobart Airport is approximately a 45 minute drive from the home.
Interaction with Guests:
Please note I will not be available in person during your stay. I have a management team in place to assist guests with any questions or issues which may arise during their stay.
