This hotel was a very good value. The front desk manager gave me an extra flat sheet at my request, which was very kind. European hotels often provide only comforters, which are too warm for me, so having a cotton sheet is wonderful. Our room had a walk-in shower with excellent controls for the temperature and water force. There weren't many restaurants nearby, but we ate at the restaurant in the Bastion hotel which is attached to the Best Western and had a very good meal with good service.

We had a quick layover but the shuttle was at the airport waiting and had an easy check-in. We had to arrange for a taxi back to the airport as we had to be there before the shuttle started in the morning again, the hotel arranged that the night before which was appreciated.

Check in was quick and efficient but be aware you cannot check in early! The room was wonderful and the beds comfy. We had a great dinner at the hotel and the staff were great. We took the hotel shuttle to the airport and took the train into Amsterdam. We returned to the airport by train and took the hotel shuttle back to the hotel. The shuttle was right on schedule! Only down side of this hotel is the only dining options were at the hotel, which was pricey, or McDonalds which you could walk to. There is coffee and tea in the room. I would definitely stay here again!

We specifically picked best western due to our good experiences in the past. This was not one of those experiences. First of all to find out it isn’t really a best western. Then to find out that we couldn’t collect best western points. Our room was ok. Extremely loud, but somewhat expected being close to the airport, that being said good windows have saved us from that noise at other locations in the past. The floor was so dusty, hairy and dirty. Dust and hair collected in our socks. Gross. When we went down for dinner there is no restaurant in the hotel. We went next door and found that the top drinks and food we chose on the menu were not even available. We kept have to return to the menu to find the next choice. Service and the food were good. When we went down for breakfast the elevator was not working. My dad is 83 and has difficulty with stairs. Also there was no sign on the elevators to inform us so we waited some time before I ran down to find it was out of order. At breakfast we arrived and there were absolutely no clean tables. Not even one. They all had dirty dishes and food. The single staff person did not seem to be bothered to ensure to clean one for us. I myself cleaned a table found a cloth to wipe the table and found napkins and cutlet to set it. When we went to eat there were no glasses for juice, I had to find those. The hot food was empty and the eggs were not replaced the whole time we ate.

The hotel lived up to its overall reviews, I'd say 7.5-8.0 There's a lot to like about this hotel and a few things that could use improvement. The front desk people were pretty nice and helpful. Shuttle runs on half-hour from hotel to airport and on the 3/4 hr from airport, last shuttle from airport at 11.45 pm. We found shuttle to be on-time and reliable. Hotel is a little out of central Amsterdam but on Sprinter commuter train from airport including shuttle trip, we got to AMS central train station in about 38 min. Bus stop for 397 to various metro stops is 7 min. walk from hotel and total about 45-50 min to city center (we used both train and bus depending on where we were going). The room was a decent size and bathrm spacious and comfortable. Plenty of outlets and bed was good. Better lighting needed in rm but bathrm lighting was good. Nice lounge to relax on ground fl and outdoor space. Breakfast was good but the staff seemed overwhelmed (more staff needed) and food wasn't replenished when out. Breakfast hrs. very convenient (to 10 am wkdays, 11 am wkends). Hotel was quiet. We would stay again. If you don't mind trek into city center, the room cost differential is worthwhile. Overall we had a comfortable stay at the hotel.

Our bathroom light did not work. They did not have another room for us to move to claiming that they were fully booked. We would have to wait for the next day. The staff was not empathetic and did not respond timely when we first noticed the problem. We had to go down to the front desk to follow up
