Having stayed a few times over the years (last time 6 months ago), I am sorry to say that the renovations are taking too long it almost feels like it’s going backwards. Prices have gone up, to match much better hotels in the area. It’s now at the point where it is no longer good value, the hotel is still very tatty, rooms and bathrooms are either old, or have been bodged. No aircon, no free wifi, the most basic tea/coffee facilities, very very budget breakfast. It still feels like a refugee hotel. It has the feel of a poor seaside hotel, but is priced like a modern 4*.

Pointless late checkout, the maids wanted to clean
The hotel in general was lovely, very clean, comfortable, looks appealing. The staff however let it down. I arrived late because of my job, I did ring in advance to make sure this was ok and I was told it was a 24 he front desk and not to worry. When I arrived at 2am no one was on the desk, I did hear voices coming from a large room behind me. Two members of staff were sitting on a sofa possibly having a break. I asked if anyone was on the front desk and I got a mutter in return saying yes someone should be there. I called out for assistance but no answer. I waited another 5 Mins or so and shouted for assistance. A lady came running from the back, checked me in and then sent me on a a maze hunt to find my room. Which was NOT noted on any room signs. (This is a big hotel with lots of floors in many directions) after 15 mins of searching I went back to the reception. The lady then escorted me to the other end of the hotel. No wonder I couldn’t find it. I had a pleasant stay and paid for a late check out. However the maids were baisically waiting out side my room with a hoover and cleaning trolley from 10am - 12pm chatting and giggling leading to a pointless late checkout as it woke me. Hotels nice but I don’t think I’ll stay again, simply bad service. Let down

Very reasonable if a little jaded in parts
First impressions were good. Having booked it very last minute I didn't have any expectations but from my late arrival at 9.pm to leaving the overall experience was positive. The lobby was clean and tidy and the staff all pleasant and helpful. The buffet breakfast (charged extra for) was fulsome and had great choices for each course. The swimming pool was warm, tidy and just a good size to get in an early morning swim. Nice steam room(albeit with a broken seat) and sauna offers lots of choice, plus a well kitted out gym, although I didn't use this. There were a few niggles as follows My room window was directly next to an outside speaker which was playing music until at least 11pm over the outdoor courtyard and gazebo area. Not overly intrusive but enough to be heard through the windows while trying to go to sleep after the TV had been turned off. The shower room needs a little updating and maintenance but it did the job it needed to do. The w/c basin was interesting in so much as the hot tap provided warm to hot water whilst the cold tap gave scalding hot water immediately it was turned on. Interesting tooth brushing regime! The vanity shelf was set at an interestingly jaunty angle too. The socket next to the bed didn't work meaning I had to have my bedside lamp on the floor and my phone charging across the room on the table. Small issues which didn't detract from a very nice hotel with friendly staff and some great facilities. I would definitely recommend this place

Like: luxurious bedroom size and bathroom Dislike: cannot cater for gluten free (or rather they can but half your meal will be missing e.g. mushrooms, tomatoes or any veg will be somehow battered, breadcrumbed and no good for gluten free people like me). They did manage to bring me some lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes after requests for some veg to go with the overly cooked steak (I asked for medium rare and it came out almost burnt all the way through). The room was lovely but lacked the high finish touch. E.g. bathroom tiles cracked or missing grout. Corroded taps. The radiators were on in the hallways during the 28 degree hot days we've just had. There was only 1 very small window to open so it was extremely hot throughout the night despite having the fan on high speed on me throughout. There is a pool but you have to pay daily to use it. Same for the gym. After paying for the hotel stay, you'd expect this to be part of the hotel offering. Same with the food - if you book early, you get a discount. I went to book early and they told me I was too late to book for later that night. There is no cut-off time listed but in the end, I was told that I should not eat there by the receptionist because it was a buffet and cannot cater for gluten free. Therefore I was redirected to the bar which is where I had further difficulties mentioned earlier. Overall - Good location & parking, nice sized bedroom, lovely garden area. Could do with air con and special diet training.

A little outdated but friendly hotel.
Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. At parts the hotel was dated. I stayed in a 'budget' room. Which i wasnt aware until i got into thr room that it wad internal and had no windows. Fine for just a night ot two but no more. Warm room, but fans are provided. The spa area was a little run down but still really good value for what was there and the area was clean and a lot of facilities. I would stay again.

Room was a bit tired but cleanliness was acceptable, maybe we were put in one of the worst rroms because we had our dog with us. Was an extremely hot day when we arrived and room was very hot as it was in the eves under the roof with no working air conditioning. Staff were friendly, breakfast was good..
