Ideally situated in open farmland with grounds that overlook Hornsea Mere (the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire), the semi-detached barns, Barley Edge with an attached cottage, and The Granary form part of a shared gravelled courtyard, and make the perfect retreat for families.
The rural setting is an excellent base for exploring east Yorkshire’s magnificent coastline with its wealth of sandy beaches, RSPB bird reserves, and traditional seaside towns of Hornsea, Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough with activities for all ages. Within walking distance is Honeysuckle Farm, a great day out for children, offering delicious ice cream and cart rides. You can also visit Wassand Hall, a grand Regency house and walled garden (open on selected days), and Hornsea Mere which has over 250 species of birds, a café and opportunities for sailing, fishing or feeding the ducks and swans.
Hornsea, 1 mile, offers beaches, promenade, a leisure complex, golf course, museum, skate park, the retail outlet Hornsea Freeport, Bugtopia The Zoo, pubs and restaurants; it’s also the end/start point of the Trans-Pennine Trail, where guests can hire electric bikes at an exclusive discount. Other local attractions include water sport activities and clay pigeon shooting at Brandesburton, 4 miles, and the the medieval town of Beverley, 10 miles, which boasts an attractive blend of past and present with its 13th-century minster, boutiques, bistros, polo club and renowned racecourse. The harbour and spa entertainment centre in Bridlington is 14 miles away, while The Deep, a spectacular aquarium, maritime museum and marina, are all located in Hull, ‘City of Culture 2017’, 15 miles away.
