Motels have a reputation of being run-down and un-kept, but this was a pleasant surprise! The front desk staff lady was so friendly and helpful, and gave us a map of how to get downtown to see the historic buildings. The room was updated and clean, the beds nice and firm, the coffee maker had cups and condiments, etc.
The breakfast was decent for the family: toast, cereal, coffee, juice, oatmeal, muffins, bagles, etc.... unless you are diabetic/low carb: there are no protein options available, not even boiled eggs.
