Vacation in style at a professionally decorated and fully updated lakefront location. Our year-round home is over 1,200 square feet in size. You will have plenty of room to spread out in comfort during your visit. We hope you take the time to read our reviews. Guests consistently mention the size and comfort of our home as well as praise our location and accommodating lakefront.
Make lasting memories as you and your family relax, fish, swim, and play at Michigan's largest inland lake. This section of the lake has a firm sandy bottom that stays shallow for quite a way. The West Shore of Houghton Lake is commonly referred to as the "Calm Side". Our home doesn’t have a sea-wall. You can easily walk from our lawn into the water without the hassle of constantly climbing up and over a concrete, steel, or stone barrier. This is a fantastic location for families with small children.
Inside our home you will appreciate how the primary bedroom (with a king mattress) and full bath are separated from the main living area for privacy and relaxation. The lakefront bedroom (queen mattress) with great water views, is an oasis of its own. Our 3rd bedroom with 2 bunk beds (containing 4 twin mattresses) allow this roomy home to easily sleep 6.
The kitchen is modern and welcoming with updated stainless-steel appliances and granite counter tops. The updated décor throughout our home transitions seamlessly from room to room and adds the perfect finishing touch.
The entire living area is open, warm, and inviting offering fantastic views of the lake.
A Smart TV with LG Sound bar is provided for your enjoyment. The Primary bedroom contains another Smart TV.
If you’re a mature, relaxed, and refined group,,,,,,,we hope you visit and have a feeling you'll never want to leave.
Finally, we want to take a moment to summarize our rules so this is a fantastic experience for everyone: No Pets, No Smoking, and No Parties/Conduct that may be deemed offensive. We also require the primary renter to be over the age of 35. Additionally, our garage will be locked as it contains our personal items.
We'll close by stressing this is a family friendly home in a quiet family friendly neighborhood. Please be a good neighbor at all times during your stay.

Awesome time at Houghton Lake
This was a great property to come and enjoy some swimming and boating on Houghton Lake. The home and property are beautiful and the lake is perfect for swimming for little kids with a great beach right in front of you to play on! The hosts were fantastic and the house has everything you need! 5 stars all around!

Beautiful Up North get away!
We enjoyed our stay, it was perfect for our family. The home was beautiful and very clean. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and we all enjoyed the firepit. We were disappointed to find out there was not air conditioning and the little beach near the water was overgrown and filled with rocks. Overall, it was a great get away!

We came for a golf trip and really enjoyed the cottage. The beds were among the best we've ever found at a rental. The location was convenient to Angelo's and R&J's and the beach was sandy. The interior was updated and had everything we needed. Nice spot!

Great little get away
We were looking for a quick little getaway that was far enough away from the city but not all the way “up north” and this was the perfect little spot for our family. Our 18 month old loved the water, and was great how much walkable water space there was for him. With the 4 of us, felt like a great amount of space inside and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful home on the lake
Everything was wonderful! The home has everything you need and is conveniently located near restaurants and grocery stores in the area. There is an awesome market/store just up the street called Best Choice Marketplace. It has everything you can imagine. We stumbled upon it on our last day and were so disappointed no one had mentioned it in prior reviews. Skip going to Sav-A-Lot or Family Fare, buy your grocery items at Best Choice. It even has a fresh meat counter for all your grilling wants. We loved the home and the peaceful surroundings. The neighbors were super nice and quiet. We also liked the sandy bottom lake area in front of the home with easy access to the water. Unlike a lot of the homes on Houghton Lake that we saw that have a seawall, this one does not so you can walk right into the water. We have already booked our vacation week for next summer. Awesome stay!

The location was great! Right on the water. Friendly neighbors and low key neighborhood. If your bringing a boat, know that if the draft exceeds 2.5’, you will not be able to keep it dockside. Bring bumpers, dock is not equipped with them, and there is VERY limited parking to keep a trailered boat, or trailer on the property. If your staying during the summer months, bring fans, there is no AC. Fantastic fishing for walleye and smallmouth, 500 yards north of the dock. We would defiantly consider returning here.

Beautiful and cozy cottage
This is a beautiful fully renovated cottage with a beautiful view, and very clean. Calvin was a great host and immediately responded and then followed up to a message I sent to him. I was with my daughter and four grandchildren and we were all very comfortable. The only thing I would have liked better was more of a sandy beach for the kids, it was somewhat rocky, but we would still love to come back. I highly recommend!

Wonderful Cottage
My family and I just finished our stay at this absolutely stunning newly remodeled cottage! We have 3 kiddos, ages 3, 5, and 7 who loved playing on the little beach and swimming in the lake (shallow near dock, so perfect for littles). The grandparents joined as well, and enjoyed the beautiful front picture window with a great unobstructed view of the lake. We were able to dock our boat, and the fishing was great! My 7 yr old caught 11 fish over the course of our 5 night stay, going out each evening to fish for an hour or so! The cottage had everything we needed, and we cooked food most nights. The remodel is gorgeous, with new appliances and furniture and very well done decor (while still very child friendly). We enjoyed the Houghton Lake area where we were able to find parks, putt putt, ice cream, and tennis/pickleball courts all within 15 minutes. Busccilli's pizza was amazing, and highly recommend that as well. Calvin and Mary were wonderful hosts, super accessible and communicative! A five star experience all around!

The Cozy Cottage

Was very pleased with everything, close to town, lake was calm and perfect water temp at 74 degrees. The first foot of so on the lake access was rocky, past that and was very shallow for little kids to play and have fun in the water.

Perfection!
Our second stay in this cottage and it was again, great! We love the cottage and the area. Calvin and Mary are excellent to work with. The cottage is very warm and welcoming! Calvin's home was so perfect. An excellent choice for my visit back home and having my mother and son stay a couple nights over Christmas. It was very comfortable from the furniture, to the decor, and the fireplace. The set-up seemed perfect also, plenty if space if privacy was needed but small enough to spend time together.
