We keep coming back!
This was the second time my husband and I have stayed at Hotel Ylem. The hotel is only about an 8 minute drive to MD Anderson. The staff are great. Always kind and helpful. Tony was a great bar tender. The rooms are very spacious. You do see some wear and tear but everything is clean. The neighborhood has lots of food options and a Target and Kroger's right around the corner. Breakfast was pancakes, bacon, eggs, cereal, muffins and other things. Yummy! Just a few cons: the shower water takes FOREVER to heat up. Seriously, turn the shower on before you even have all of your things together and it may be warm when you step in. A tray or table to eat on would be great instead of eating on the bed. We had no clue how to use the coffee pot. Water kept leaking everywhere. Shelves in the shower and a soap dish by the sink would be so helpful. Lamps on the bedside tables would great! Besides these things, we would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone.

Sorry to say that this was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had! No management on property. Employees nice but lack supervision and training. Supposed to be there for 6 nights. On the third night, there was water from the above room coming into our room in the middle of the night through the light fixture. It took time to get a hold of management and maintenance to find another room.

This property is rundown, had an awful smell in the room with stains on the sides of the bed railings. Not to mention those that were working on the outside of the building hammering until the evening and starting at 8am on a Saturday morning. Do not recommend this place.

MD Anderson patient
I have breast cancer and am a patient of MD Anderson. I love staying at this hotel as it is close to the hospital and we are familiar with all the restaurants close by. The elevator was broken this time and there was no shelf in shower to place shampoo, soap and washcloth. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Always stay at this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for the Texans football game. Not only was the hotel one of the nicest hotels ive stayed in, but the staff was amazing as well. There was also a shuttle to take us to the stadium. My experience here was remarkable.

The bathroom was updated but unfinished. No frame around the door, sheetrock under the sink had holes at the bottom. No chair or desk in the room. Mattress was fine. In the lobby, carpet on stairs was old and looked dirty. Shuttle service (by Uber) to hospital was convenient. Don't know if it was complimentary or not because I never received the email copy of my bill they said they would send.

The hotel is a great distance to NRG. They provided two towels for four guests. There was no security lock on the door. The breakfast was gross with the coffee super thick and the eggs rubbery. The bartender didn’t show up so that wasn’t an option. The tv did have direct tv.

Awful!!
Hotel was not clean but the worst thing was the smell of both our room and our son’s room. It was so musty and moldy smelling that it made my eyes, nose and throat burn. Our sheets felt damp so I slept with long pants and long shirt first night. They changed sheets 2nd night and they were better. Employees clearly were not happy with their jobs. Probably embarrassed and defeated from constant complaints. When we asked if breakfast was good, girl at desk got wide eyed and said “well they changed some things and we haven’t been getting so many complaints. They had a bar in lobby but it was closed because bartender quit. First time to Texas to see the Lions Texans game. Terrible experience. Thank God the lions won.
