For a hotel that offers weddings, overall we would have expected certain things to be better:
- for a premium breakfast of £19 per person the porridge was made with water and was very bland and inedible, I would have expected some proper bakery standard bread not processed 20p loaf.
However, the muslin over the lemon was a fantastic touch, the dining room was clean and the service was good.
The interior design of the hotel is beautiful, very warm and welcoming and appears comfortably premium - However a small touch such as painting the back of the ladies bathroom doors would change it from back alley pub toilet to luxury hotel. I really appreciated the splashback below the hand dryer and the premium hand soap and lotion. Again the decor is lovely, warming and has that special feel about it.
Our room was fantastic and initial impressions made me feel it was clean however the shower cap box in the bathroom was empty (although not required) yet had clearly been used by someone to rest their toothbrush on!
The size, decor and layout of the room itself was beautiful and we had a very comfortable stay. We really appreciated that the curtains close properly! I appreciated the premium drinking glasses in the room but found there was actually no drinking water provided with them - drinking tap water from the bathroom was a big no no.
Overall, the hotel is beautiful, the staff are friendly however I will not pursue this location for our wedding unfortunately.
