Traditional Mountain Village House, Private Pool, WiFi and Extensive Views

Historically, being once the village bakery, during conversion, the original millstone was set within one of the stone walls to keep a nod to the property's past. This traditional and typically Spanish Cortijo-style home, Casa Hiraeth, has been sympathetically renovated and expanded over the past few years, giving it all the modern conveniences one would expect. The professional interior decoration throughout creates the style and ambience of a home-from-home whilst complimenting the traditional Moorish architecture.

Casa Hiraeth is at the edge of a small village, which benefits from having a local shop (for essentials) and a bar / restaurant called Los Pajaritos, both within an easy stroll.

Being a traditional Cortijo, the house is built around a traditional inner courtyard, which gets the morning sun, making it the ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
The middle terrace features a Moroccan style covered seating area, ideal for secluded and shaded outdoor dining, and you can catch the last of the sun while you dine on the top terrace which is equipped with a relaxing outdoor lounge seating area with fireplace, kitchenette, BBQ and dining table with chairs .
All terraces are equipped for year-round use with outdoor lighting, fires, WiFi and power.

With multiple terraces on different levels each with uninterrupted views over the hills, you’ll never get tired of enjoying the glorious sunsets.
The variety of terraces allows you to experience the typical Spanish outdoor-living lifestyle.

Just off the inner courtyard is a stunning and completely private large swimming pool, measuring 6.5 x 4 metres, with a depth of 1.0 – 1.8 metres, making the shallow end perfect for a cooling dip. The pool is maintained by a saline/saltwater system (not chlorine), that guarantees perfect hygiene while being gentle on skin, and unlike chlorine systems, the water will not sting the eyes. You are also able to enjoy and make the most of the pool into the evening with integrated pool lights illuminating it, so the swimming doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down!

Moving indoors, there is a large open-plan kitchen-dinner, complimented by a snug/lounge area complete with wood burner for the cooler months and with stunning distant views of the undulating countryside and olive groves.
The house also benefits from a separate comfortable living room for relaxing and with its own wood burner for enjoying cosy winter evenings.
Upstairs there is the master bedroom with large ensuite bathroom, which overlooks the rolling hills and olive groves, and the two other bedrooms, one double and one twin, which both share a family shower room.
All bedrooms come equipped with air-conditioning for those warm summer nights or warming air for the cooler months.

Additional facilities include an office area with WiFi, PC & printer, which enables the ability to work remotely.
There is also a secure driveway and parking area sufficient for two vehicles.

Throughout Casa Hiraeth, traditional Andalucian characteristics are abundant, which add to its authentic and individual charm, along with those necessary modern conveniences, which we have all become accustomed to and creates a true home-from-home.

Please note:
We are currently ensuring our housekeeping and maintenance team have additional time to safely and thoroughly clean and prepare our property for our next guests, giving peace of mind during your stay.

Wonderful Family Holiday
This is a beautiful traditional style home in the Andalusian hills. We had a perfect relaxing escape. It was the height of summer, but the numerous terraces afforded plenty os hade, and the saline pool much needed refreshment. It is also a great base to explore Granada (easy 1 hr drive). Kimberley, the housekeeper was excellent - always on hand to answer any queries!

Casita in the Countryside
The property is classic Spanish countryside. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in the heart of Andalucia, you will enjoy the home. It is complete and provides ample opportunity for getting your maximum amount of steps in. The sunsets are the best part of the property. Seen from the upper deck, you cannot get a more beautiful sight.

Wonderful house with great attention to detail
This house is wonderful for up to 6 adults . We were 2 in their 50’s and 4 early 20’s. It is beautifully furnished , with Rachael’s style throughout . We loved both of the terraces , the mid terrace is perfect for breakfast , lunch and an afternoon chill . The upper terrace is well equipped with a small kitchen and bbq , and another seating areas with outside sofas and a large dining table . Kimberly the local property support couldn’t have been more helpful , always at the end of WhatsApp and lots of suggestions locally . She also arranged for some Spanish ladies to cook Paella for us which was a treat . The area is stunning , with incredible sunsets , lots of restaurants recommended locally if a very high standard . My only caveat is if you have very little children , or elderly , the steps up to the terraces are quite steep and rugged . We would definitely return

Relaxing and Peaceful stay
This property was perfect for a getaway from a busy city. Set amongst the hills of southern Spain, the well designed property was spacious, clean, thoughtfully fitted with every thing you might need to cook and dine. Loved all the eating spaces, amazing pool, awesome artwork. Host was very impressive; organised everything very well and managed to sort some amazing spanish catering for a night by some local chefs - delicious. Recommend for some quality down time with family, creating memories I will cheerish. Many thanks.

Tranquil oasis
We had a great stay at this beautiful and tastefully decorated casa. For couple of weeks we enjoyed the various indoor and outdoor areas in this charming house with our two children. Some days we just chose to stay in the house all day, enjoying the pool with its cooling water, while other days we used it as a base to visit other locations in the area such as Iznajar, Granada, Ronda and Seville. The house offers you this versatility because of its location and because it’s fully equipped with what you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a tv with many English speaking channels and videos which was good for the kids. In the bedrooms there is an efficient AC which helped to cope with the extra hot nights. The showers in three bathrooms are great. There is a small shop 2 minutes walking distance with the very basic groceries but we found best to drive the 25min to the nearest supermarket. There is not much happening in the village but that’s what we needed, some peace and tranquility to get away from the hussle and bustle of living in a large city. The communication was top notch from the very start, both from Rachel and Kimberley, making us feel reassured. The few minor issues raised with them were dealt with promptly and efficiently which is a sign of great customer service. We highly recommend staying here.

Lovely property in the hills. Everything you need for a relaxing stay away from it all. Very clean. Lovely pool. Very well equipped. Lots of indoor and outdoor space including various outdoor sitting areas and lovely BBQ area. Large supermarket is about 25mins drive away. There isn't a lot close-by certainly not within walking distance. Although small local shop has essentials and fresh bread. If you want a peaceful hideaway then this property is perfect.

Lovely house, spotlessly clean, 3 bathrooms. We had a minor problem which the manager and owners dealt with immediately and successfully, thank you. We really enjoyed our stay, I particularly loved the mid terrace early in the morning for coffee, the high terrace for dinner as the sun went down and pool to cool down. Thank you.

An magical place to stay, with incredible outdoor space
We spent a week at Casa Hireath during a really hot spell when temperatures were above 40 degrees every day so we really appreciated the fabulous outdoor areas. There was always somewhere shady to escape the extreme heat; in the lovely courtyard, by the pool or on one of the fabulous terraces. The house is furnished and equipped to a superb standard, which makes staying so relaxing. The lovely pool was a godsend. It is not huge, but is an ideal temperature and perfectly located in the coolest spot, surrounded by beautiful planting. The planting across the whole property, including bougainvillea, citrus trees, grape vines, scented geraniums, cypress trees, etc. is amazing and really makes the villa a magical place to stay. Inside the house is equipped with everything you could need and more for a perfect holiday.

Evenings we spent on the top terrace enjoying the views across the mountains we had several BBQs which was super easy to use & having a fridge on the top terrace was great for keeping the beers cold. Great family holiday at a unique villa
We spent over a week at the Casa. The property is really comfortable and very well equipped, with plenty of space. The different terraces are a fantastic feature of this property, and come into their own at different times of the day. The top terrace makes a great evening venue to watch the sunsets. The pool and its surrounds are very well done, and were frequently used (especially due the recent heatwave). Overall we enjoyed our stay, and look forward to returning.

Beautiful Villa and Relaxing Oasis
Alun and Rachel have done a brilliant job in creating a tasteful and welcoming home. We've travelled all over the world but can honestly say this was the most relaxing break I've had in a long time and was very much down to a fabulous setting and surroundings. The villa has everything you need and little extras like the welcome pack make the difference. The various terraces give you the opportunity to take in the magnificent views. The surrounding area has lots to explore and the drive to Lake Iznajar is breathtaking. Kimberley the local house manager was excellent and very quick to answer any questions. Definately recommend and look forward to booking another trip to Casa Hireath in future. Thanks.

Wonderful house in a fantastic location
This is a lovely villa with amazing views in a quiet village location. The welcome pack on arrival was greatly appreciated - especially the ground coffee which we used daily in the coffee maker provided. During the week we had temperatures of 35C but the house was cool during the day (with the shutters closed) and there was plenty of cool air during the night with the windows open. We didn't need to use the air conditioning at all. We had meals in each of the three terraces at different times of the day throughout the week, and also used the gas BBQ at the top terrace a couple of evenings. The saline pool was excellent - very clean and large enough for all of us to use at the same time. We loved the 'disco lights' for night swims. We took the advice from previous reviewers and booked Kim from The Travelling Kitchen to cook us dinner. This was a brilliant experience which I recommend especially if, like us, you haven't had the private dining experience before. Casa Hiraeth is a wonderful place to stay - we would thoroughly recommend it.

Glorious, accessible and comfortable hideaway with loads of character
Beautifully updated old Spanish stone house in a small hill village, good road. The old house is very special. Thick stone walls keep it cool, we had over 40C days. If colder, there are log stoves. Kitchen well equipped, fridge, small freezer and espresso machine for cappuccinos. Note as multi-level lots of random steps. Air con in bedrooms. Main had big en suite with shower and bath, views over hills. One bedroom twin, small high window. One other double with courtyard view. Shared bathroom, shower. Plenty of hot water (bottled gas). Glories of the house for a really relaxing break are the pool and terraces where we spent most time. Pool is slightly salty (much less than sea) very clear, and was (late June) really warm. Set in a suntrap at the base of a low cliff, lemon trees and lavender, sunbeds, not overlooked. No chlorine so shower and just dip in and out. Late evening swims with coloured pool lights under stars! Small courtyard with table, shade, good for lunch, breakfast. Mid "Siesta" terrace up a few easy steps had two long sofas, shade with views, breeze and massive "beer" table, orange trees, power and wifi. Huge delightful top terrace up cliff overlooking the house (steep steps with handrails) giving long views, superb sunsets, lovely in morning. Gas BBQ, small kitchen, fridge, big dining table plus armchairs, sofa and table. Great for evening BBQ and long sunset chill-outs. We hired Travelling Kitchen (recommended) to cook us a dinner, fantastic, served top terrace . Local manager (from Yorkshire) met on arrival, sorted a later small issue quickly, great service. all v clean. Modern laundry room; secure drive, wifi 7mps, Village has a shop but restaurant sadly then shut. Quirky ancient hill town on lake 10 min (park free on North ). Castle erratic tours. Antequera 35min easy drive with a massive hypermarket. Antequera has unique megalithic sites (free ) a massive Moorish Castle and a scenic limestone natural park (El Torcal) high above. NW is a large lake with wild flamingos, visitor centre, binoculars. Granada is an hour by car (you need a car) and Cordoba about 1hr 15, We prebooked city parking online - not Alhambra as has parking. Granada city is a great to wander round and have lunch. Cordoba, lovely, less busy. Seville, get train or 2 hour drive. Warning Caminito del Rey (1hr 30) and Alhambra - pre-book months before! This is a fantastic villa, scenic, comfortable, quiet but accessible, highly recommend

What a view!
This property is a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle. The owners have done a great job of creating multiple outdoor spaces that embrace the beautful views of the countryside. Kitchen is well stocked and sitting area is comfortably furnished. A good description of this home is "the house of many levels" and steps to each level can be steep. Our group found the beds to be firm and some felt the beds were uncomfortably firm. This is obviously a personal preference, The owner maintains a small stock of wine that you may use as long as you replace. It was a nice amenity and part of a general thoughtfulness that was appreciated. The owner's agent was very kind and atttentive and responded promptly to our questions. There were issues with the hot water while we were renting and the owners tried very hard to resolve.

The Villa and furnishing were absolutely beautiful. The outdoor areas were so relaxing. We enjoyed sitting out on the Veranda every evening until 11 p.m. under candlelight and looking at the stars. A fabulous way to experience the real Andalucia
We stayed at Casa Hiraeth for a week in July 2018 and absolutely loved it. The little village of Fuente del Conde is authentically Spanish, and although it's quite remote, the fact that there is a bar/restaurant (nice atmosphere - great steaks!) and a small shop within easy walking distance means you are not totally reliant on a car. The house is beautiful - we loved the myriad of courtyards and terraces, and the roof terrace is really something with its own kitchen and sitting area. Who could ever tire of the sunset views over the olive-clad mountains? The non-chlorine pool is lovely - a welcome end to a hot day's sightseeing at the Alhambra or in Cordoba (both a must), or a refreshing way to cool off after a day's watersports at the nearby lake beach at Iznajar. Inside the house doesn't disappoint either: it is huge, with two separate living rooms, a vast kitchen, a study with loads of books and board games and three decent size bedrooms with masses of cupboard space and hangers. The owners have put so much thought into the decor and furnishings, with stunning artwork and Moroccan-style candles everywhere. It was also the best-equipped house we have ever stayed in (and we have been self-catering for the past 15 years). We even had a paella pan! Dishwasher tablets, detergent, mosquito repellent, rubber gloves - the sort of thing one often has to buy and then leave behind - were supplied. My only slight criticism would be that the water pressure in the (massive) ensuite bathroom was very weak, although fine in the family bathroom. The beds are very comfortable with Egyptian cotton linen, although the neighbourhood dogs barking did on occasions prevent a full night's sleep (not much the owners of Casa Hiraeth can do about that!) We left for our second week on the coast feeling relaxed and rather spoiled, and our two post-exam teenagers felt that they'd really been able to recharge the batteries after a combination of hard work and serious partying! Altogether a great week and we can't recommend the property highly enough. Ciaran & Melanie Duke

Wonderful property with stunning views
We have stayed in many lovely Spanish properties over the years and were not disappointed with Casa Hiraeth. Rachael and Alun have clearly put a lot of thought and care into restoring this property. Whilst maintaining many lovely original features they have modernised it sympathetically to ensure that it includes all the necessary conveniences. Having thick exterior walls means that the interior stayed fairly cool even in very warm temperatures. Although we utilised the air conditioning unit in our bedroom we found that unlike other places we have stayed we did not require to run it throughout the night. The outside of the property offers a variety of places to sit and take in the fabulous views across the olive groves and to watch the sunsets. The lower of the two upper terraces was a great place to sit during the day as it is partially covered to offer respite from the sun whilst still enjoying the views. A climb up a steep set of stairs which have to be carefully negotiated takes you to a wonderful large terrace with stunning views. The outdoor seating area is elegant and comfortable. Beside this is a large dining area which is open to the views but covered to protect from the sun. The attractive pool area is surrounded by plants and flowers and the pool itself was immaculate and very refreshing. There is a shower just inside the door of the house which the owners have requested that you use prior to using the pool to ensure that sun creams do not interfere with the quality of the water. We felt that the inclusion of an outdoor shower at the pool area would have been much more convenient and would encourage people to honour this request. A two minute stroll from the house is a good (only) bar/restaurant. We had dinner there on a number of occasions and it was most enjoyable. Antonio the proprietor is a friendly chap and he makes a mean gin and tonic! As a coeliac I was also delighted to find that he also stocked gluten-free bottles of lager. A point to note is that the restaurant is NOT closed on a Monday as we were led to believe. We had a fabulous week at Casa Hiraeth and would highly recommend it as a place to totally relax and enjoy the tranquil and beautiful surroundings. We would definitely stay here again.

Outstanding views - beautiful house
Everything we needed and more, we ended up cooking most evenings as the kitchen was so well equipped and the local supermarket adequate (plus a large shop helped). I even made a cake for my sons birthday! We had a couple of stormy nights and lit the log burner and watched movies. Cosy winter house and gorgeous in the sun too. Comfortable beds. I was able to work and the internet connection was good. Nothing to fault 😊

Perfect, we love this place!!
Second time here at Casa Hiraeth and would thoroughly recommend this traditional and stylishly decorated village house to anyone. Found it last year and with so much to see in the area, we came back again. Instead of just flying into Malaga, we spent the day there and well worth a visit, with the castle, cathedral and Picasso museum all centrally located, with a stroll along the harbour front to finish the day, excellent. Already looking forward to coming back and staying again at Casa Hiraeth, thank you Alun and Rachael we had another great holiday.

Great house, nicely decorated with eye for detail, great view.
We had a great time at Casa Hiraeth. The weather was not as good as we hoped for but the house and the views made up for it. The house is beautiful and well maintained. It was clean and very nicely decorated. The owners clearly have an eye for detail and comfort. We loved the 3 terraces and the set up of the house. Lots of little stairs and different levels. Therefor perhaps not suitable for younger kids. We had a one week stay with our two rather tall kids of 7 and 9 years. For them it worked very well. At the super Mercado near the house in the small village we found the every day essentials. Bigger supermarkets are at 20 minutes driving distance. Restaurant Antonio’s bar down the street serves a really good steak. We went to Cordoba, Granada and Nerja on day trips. But also spend some time relaxing by the pool. Would absolutely like to go back in the future. Thanks Rachael and Alun!

Stunning house and location!
Beautifully decorated, traditional cortijo style house and designed for modern living, perfect! We were spoilt for choice with the variety of terraces and areas to relax, unwind and enjoy the fabulous weather during our stay in November. We had a fantastic couple of weeks and spent many days relaxing and eating on the terraces with stunning views across the undulating hills and olive groves as far as the eyes could see. We didn’t travel too far afield, so made the most of the local restaurant / bar (Los Pajaritos), which always had a great atmosphere. Antonio (the owner) made us feel extremely welcome and the food was very good, especially the steaks. Antonio stocked an impressive gin selection and his G&T’s were huge, so rather fortunate that Casa Hiraeth was close enough to amble back to, at the end of an enjoyable evening. We also found the local shop exceptionally handy and being able to stroll down to get fresh bread in the mornings was a real bonus. We would thoroughly recommend Casa Hiraeth and its location, which we will definitely be coming back to explore further next year.
