We spent three nights here. The hotel is wonderful. Staff, breakfast and service was excellent. We will certainly stay here the next time we come to Karlstad. Also interesting history of the former prison and well designed museum. Highly recommended!

Nice hotel. Dinner was fine but not so impressed by breakfast. Would have preferred a smaller choice in breakfast menu with a higher bread quality.

An excellent hotel. Close to everything. Staff was very accommodating. Rooms are comfortable and very quiet. This building used to be a prison, and they have kept the prison motif. Very historic. Breakfast buffet was ok. Not a huge selection, but adequate, and food was prepared nicely. I would stay again and would recommend this property.

It's an old prison and quite quirky. The standard rooms are small and on thr top floor a bit warm in summer, but there is a fan provided. The ropms and general hotel are of high quality.

Bilan Hotel
Central spot to meet local relatives and explore area. Enjoyed free breakfast and free dinner included. Would definitely stay here again. Loved the jail history too. Added character.

A lovely old building converted to a hotel. Breakfast, coffee and cake in the afternoon and dinner is included which is very welcome.

Location is good. The hotel facilities are good but the room and the bed were too small. The breakfast the light meal were good but the dishes are not cleaned well many dirty. Nice staff.

Interesting place in a former prison. Your room includes breakfast and a dinner buffet which was delicious. The staff was very kind. Good location near shops and restaurants in central plaza.

Nice hotel except for a blip at check in.
Staying in a converted prison is interesting. The location is near the city and parking was free outside the prison walls. I was initially not allowed to check in early even though there were a room available... was first told there were no rooms and later told I had to pay to check in early. It was only after we told them that we had just checked out of another Clarion Collection hotel that they relented. I felt they were a little dishonest and unhelpful at check in. Otherwise, it was an excellent stay. I appreciated the dinners provided at the end of the day...

Quality compact hotel in a small Swedish city
Karlstad isn't Stockholm, so you won't have the glam or the high prices here. This is our second time in Karlstad and we liked the Bilan very much. Room is small but well designed. Hotel is quiet, bed very comfortable. Windows open and are a very nice feature of the room. Breakfast is very good, and so was the evening meal (a surprise!). There are some nice seating areas at the lobby level with sunny vistas and coffee and snacks. The compact gym is smartly put together and everything in the hotel is painted fresh white. Staff are professional and helpful.

Lives up to standard expectations
Quite standard for a Swedish hotel, with nothing sticking out in either way. Comfortable and decent breakfast, but nothing exceptional. Free coffe or tea and fruit at all hours. The building was previously a jail and some character of this is kept which gives some atmosphere.

Great staff. Rooms were spacious. The hotel provides free breakfast AND dinner + coffee anytime of the day. Breakfast was quite good. Dinner was okay. Close to the town center.
