You get what you paid for. We stayed only one night and it was okay. I selected this properties based on the good reviews. After visiting however, I concluded that the only outstanding hotel in the area was Hideaway Rio Celeste but it was 10 times more expensive than Posada and similar B&Bs. At Posada's cabin you feel a little more comfortable that you would be in a tent, but you have inside bathroom, a shower (cold water only), and a fan, no AC. The owners are really nice people, and a traditional CR breakfast was decent. The real gem on the property was a talking parrot. He made my day (or rather the very early morning :) Good location - very close to the the river and with the private access for additional $5 p/p. We didn't use the private access with a pool supposedly 3 meters deep because it was closing at 4pm when we basically arrived, so we just went to the free part of the river by the bridge and it was good enough to chill out and experience unique Rio Celeste. It is also close to the park if you plan to hike. Safe travels!
Room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay (1 night). Staff was super friendly and the food at the restaurant was excellent! Very peaceful and quiet!

Very kind staff, eager to please. You’ll want to be sure you’ve done all you want to do for the day before arriving- roads in and out are a bit difficult but very drivable. Arrive before 2 to enjoy the paths on property, or come in at sunset to rest and dine on site. Would not recommend navigating here after dark.
Pasado Rio Celeste el Amistad was great value. It’s clean. Conveniently located to Volcán Tenorio park and many great restaurants. Staff was super friendly. Restaurant was good. If you are looking for a basic but reasonably priced value, this is the place!!!
Very happy with my stay. Room was clean and bed was comfy. No AC but 2 oscillating fans in room to keep cool. Restaurant great food. Had breakfast at 7:30AM and then walked to Tenorio National Park and hiked until 10:30AM. On my walk back to hotel, stopped by the private trail that leads to a spot in Rio Celeste that you can swim in. I was a little late getting back for check out, but the lady owner told me not to worry about it. Super friendly staff and just a great stay overall.
Although accommodations are very basic, this was our favorite stay in Costa Rica b/c the grounds are soooo beautiful. The private hiking path down to the river, with the giant swing, was awesome, especially because Tenorio Natl Park is quite busy—nice to have a solitary hike. Don’t expect to sleep in in silence, as the open-air kitchen gets busy early. Staff speaks very little English (not a problem for us) but are very friendly and helpful.
The staff here was friendly and responsive. The room was a good size, it had a fridge, nice bed, and the fan was well placed. They have a really funny parrot here. It is very cute and can make all sorts of sounds.
Best of all they have access to the river. It’s a bit of a walk, which was great for us because we ended the day at the National park at around 2 and wanted something else to do. It’s a really great hike with a Fun swing and swimming. We also saw lots of animals walking around the hotel property at night.
This small lodge is incredibly clean. It'0s less than a mile from the entrance to the park. We were welcomed by the owner, she was so friendly and helpful, even though it was a little late. The included breakfast was delicious. They held our luggage until we came back from the Park, which by the way is a wonderful place.
Beautiful grounds with dozens of different birds and many frogs around the fruit trees and flowers. Super sweet staff. Excellent food - restaurant is called LA Amistad. The included breakfast was huge and wonderful.
A gorgeous stay. The nicest people to welcome you and feel at home. The site itself is beautiful but it is so close to a secret swimming area and walking distance to the national park. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, including our puppy.
This place is run by an absolutely wonderful family, they were so welcoming and lovely to speak with. It's clear that they put a lot of care and effort into creating a lovely experience for guests. The property was gorgeous and lush with many beautiful gardens, we watched colorful birds from outside our room each morning. The breakfast was delicious, I can't recommend this place enough for an authentic stay in the mountains away from the overly-touristy experiences elsewhere.
