It used to be the perfect place to stay in the region, but I see it starts to lose its service level. Waiting for osomeone to come to the reception for 20 minutes and it took another 20 mins to check us in...and we are regularly going there for business.
Room 28 overlooks the back and I was woken up at 6.30 with deliveries and loud talking. Room smelt very musty and I had to air it when I checked in. The booking wasn’t expensive but the place is beginning to look run down. Staff seemed helpful.
Absolutely amazing, staff were brilliant, room was cozy, well equipped and comfortable. Food was amazing and theres ots to see and do around the area. Highly recommend.
A lovely hotel, warm welcome, comfortable room, a tad noisy as it was on the ground floor with stairs close by, but a good nights sleep. Parking was right out side and free, the hotel was in a great location, the restaurant was brilliant, the food and service were out standing, would highly recommend.
A beautifully presented hotel. The staff were both helpful and friendly. Parking was at the rear of the property and there was access to the rear of the hotel. We had both dinner and breakfast at the property, both being excellent. Would definitely stay at Abbeyfield again.
Breakfast is not what it used to be. Once upon a time, the breakfast option was an incentive to getting a room here.
Since the location became part of the Green King chain the standard has slipped to normal hotel fare.
We've stayed here repeatedly, and it is always good value for money, and convnient, but there have definitely been some cutbacks over the past few months—such as only two pillows on the bed instead of four, etc. Will probably stay again, but can definitely see where Greene King appears to be cutting a few corners before that made the experience more enjoyable.
The staff were great, the room was tiny and tropical way too hot to sleep even though the weather hasn’t been that warm. The in room tea & coffee were scant, one cup each and one packet of biscuits to share. The worst part was the breakfast, very very cheap ingredients very poorly cooked or cremated would be more accurate. Again the staff were great despite everything.
Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable and clean room with fans provided as it was very warm. The staff at breakfast were lovely and were attentive and provided us with complimentary Buck’s Fizz as it was our anniversary.
