Picture yourself in an Arts-and-Crafts-style home, on 3.3 acres, just a short walk from Woodstock’s Village Green. We've owned it since 2002 and listed it on VRBO in 2019 for the first time. Your getaway begins in this Woodstock Festival-era 3-bedroom, 2-bath home offering many truly unique qualities. Relax by the heated pool (during the warm months), surrounded by mature trees. Enjoy the “weather-resistant” outdoor room: a spectacular, covered deck featuring a full fireplace. Watch the meandering stream that flows past the yard. Stretch out on one of the sofas in the one-of-a-kind, stone living room. You’ll be transported: We’re just 100 miles—a two-hour drive—from NYC.
See why our guests write: "You know it was a great trip when you talk about when you can return!"
We'll do our best to accommodate early check-ins and late departures, but it always depends on our being able to properly turnover the house from the previous guests and next guests.
Please note: Parties and events are not permitted. There are many other homes in the area that might be more suitable for you if that's what you're looking for. We strive to be good neighbors.
Inside: Everything is on one floor! (There are three steps to get to the living room.) This architecturally unique home offers many distinctive touches with continuous windows connecting each room. The stone room was formerly the neighborhood icehouse and was converted to a living room when the home was built in the late ‘60s. All of the bedrooms feature floor-to-ceiling Hunter Douglas window shades.
The main bedroom has a queen-size Thos. Moser bed and boasts two sliding doors. One leads you right to the covered outdoor room. The other opens on the deck and overlooks the stream. The room is appointed with other Thos. Moser furniture, a 43" Smart TV, and a one-of-a-kind giant, framed poster of a Vargas girl. The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower.
The other two bedrooms each feature super-comfy new (2021) queen-size Pottery Barn beds, and a shared bath, with stall shower.
The open kitchen has Bosch appliances and a grand counter with bar stools, or for serving meals buffet-style. The adjoining dining room offers an 8-seat dining table.
The extra-high-ceilinged living room features ultra-modern furniture, including two sofas, an enormous lounge chair with ottoman, and two plush swivel chairs, all oriented towards the 43” Smart TV. A leather bench is positioned in front of the wood-burning stone fireplace. A ceiling fan is also there for your comfort.
(Note: The house does NOT have central A/C. There is a large wall unit in the hallway, fans in each bedroom, and a ceiling fan in the living room.)
Outside: The covered outdoor room, measuring 18’ x 18’, features ultra-comfortable furniture from Restoration Hardware, an 8-seat farm table for outdoor eating, and a ceiling fan. You’ll want to use the room’s full-size wood-burning fireplace while you’re enjoying a glass of wine in the early evening. The 360° views include the pool, the stream, the woods and, of course, the house.
An attached, uncovered deck includes a picnic table and gas grill for your use.
The 18’ x 36’ heated pool features a custom stone patio and garden. (Hummingbirds love to visit the honeysuckle.) There are six lounge chairs, four additional chairs, and a serving table. (Note: The pool is open from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September.)
There's a basketball hoop on the driveway, suitable for half court play.
Woodstock: The town offers everything you’d want for a getaway—an eventful nightlife with fine dining, unique bars with craft cocktails and local beers, multiple concert venues offering everything from alternative to rock to blues, jazz and classical programs, a movie theater with the latest indie and foreign films, and more. There’s plenty of shopping plus casual eateries for breakfast or lunch.
The annual Woodstock Film Festival is held every October, with well over 100 independent films and plenty of celebrities. Speaking of stars, you won’t believe how bright the sky gets at night! And, of course, the Catskills are known for its great fall foliage season.
Nearby: There are great walks within minutes of town. Within a half hour’s drive are other towns to visit including Rhinebeck, with great shopping and dining, across the scenic Rhinecliff Bridge that spans the Hudson River. Roughly 45-minutes away: Hudson, with dozens of antique stores and fine restaurants; Red Hook for apple, berry and pumpkin picking; and Hunter or Belleayre for skiing.
Living in the woods: Our home, as is all of "Wood"-stock, is in a woodsy area. Occasional wildlife and insects may be on the property.
