Hotel Mystays is a large chain in Japan so travelers know what to expect, the Fuji location seems to be new and as such the hotel is well designed, very clean, and feels modern. We were on the second floor and lucky to have a room facing Mt. Fuji, although travelers should be aware that the Hotel also faces the Fuji-Q Highland amusement park and parts of the roller coster will be in any pictures you try to take. My biggest issue with the hotel was its location, it's very removed from Lake Kawaguchi where I personally feel is where all the attractions are. The walk from the hotel is around 30 minutes with some uphill, this can obviously be cut short by taking the bus but if you're coming from Tokyo or Kyoto you may feel the transportation options to be lacking and rather inconvenient. For this reason I wish the hotel's location was better, but I digress. The main appeal of this hotel (like others in the area) is the onsen. If you're new to Japan or hot springs/onsens this is something I highly recommend trying, it's a very relaxing cultural experience and my favourite part of this hotel (other than the view of Mt. Fuji). The hotel has a communal onsen (gender separated) with a locker room, bathing area, indoor portion, and an outdoor portion. Please note that you're required to bath before entering the water and cannot wear clothes while in the water. Apart from this the other things we liked about this hotel were breakfast and laundry amenties.
