'Surface Interval' - the term divers use to refer to the period between dives - is the name we have chosen for our 2 bedroom luxury beachfront condo. The underwater experiences that you will have in Bonaire will be amazing and we want to be sure that when you come out of the water the great times continue. We chose everything about our vacation home, from location and furnishings, to electronics and amenities, with an eye to providing the most relaxing and enjoyable time possible.
Surface Interval is on the second floor of Bellevue, a 10 unit luxury beachfront condo located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Belnem. Here you will enjoy peace and quiet as well as easy access to the best that Bonaire has to offer. The town of Kralendijk, where you will find wonderful restaurants and shops, is only a few minutes away. Belnem is central to many of the best dive and snorkel sites and is a short drive to the kite-boarding beach and the windsurfing bay. There is a PADI dive shop directly across the street where you can get your tanks, rent gear, take courses or even arrange for guided shore dives. Because Bellevue is located on the leeward side of the island, the water is almost always calm on your private beach. Stroll across the soft sand straight into the sparkling, warm, clear, water for a swim or a snorkel. Imagine grabbing your dive gear from the poolside dive locker and taking a short swim out to one of the finest reefs in the Caribbean. Have breakfast on your terrace, overlooking the pool and the beach, and watch for dolphins that sometimes swim by over the reef. Enjoy dinner while you watch a spectacular sunset, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the “green flash”.
There are 2 bedrooms in Surface Interval, each with ensuite bathroom. Both bedrooms have queen size beds which were custom made to allow for twin size beds to slide underneath. All 4 beds feature top quality mattresses. We generally have 2 to 4 guests at a time but the entire apartment is equipped to accommodate 6 people for those special situations such as children sleeping in the room with their parents. Amenities in both bedrooms include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, built-in closets, dressers, night-stands, flat screen televisions, DVD players, wireless high speed internet, alarm clocks, and hotel safes. The master bedroom has cable and DVD while the guest bedroom has DVD only.
The living area has an open design with the kitchen, dining room, and living room all having a view of the Caribbean. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cook your meals at home including oven with ceramic cook-top, refrigerator/freezer with ice and water dispenser on the door, granite countertops, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, blender, electric tea kettle, and mixer. The dining room has a teak table with seating for 6. The living room has an air-conditioner, ceiling fan, cushioned teak seating, flat screen television with cable, DVD player, portable Bose iPod docking station, wireless high speed internet, iPad, and a prepaid cell phone. There is a collection of books and DVDs and a set of fish, coral, and reef creature identification manuals. All doors and windows throughout the house have screens to allow you to enjoy the breezes.
Living on the second story is great for the view and for privacy. It also affords an extra level of security. Access is by stairs or elevator. You will find an electronic combination safe in each bedroom closet that is large enough to hold your laptops, cameras, passports, jewelry, wallets, and cell phones.
The view from the terrace is truly breathtaking. You will have an unobstructed view of the beach, the pool, the Caribbean sea, the island of Klein Bonaire, the mountains on the north end of Bonaire, the town of Kralendijk, and the sun setting over the sea. The furnishings include 2 cushioned teak recliners with foot stools, 2 cushioned teak lounge chairs, a teak dining table for four, a drying rack for towels and swimsuits, a ceiling fan, and lighting.
The island of Bonaire has so much to offer including consistently gorgeous weather, peace and quiet, friendly people, relaxed waterfront restaurants, kite-boarding, world-class windsurfing, the best diving and snorkeling in the Caribbean, and the best shore diving in the world. We think that there is no better place than Surface Interval from which to enjoy all this. Give it a try and we think you’ll agree.
