The location of Mitsui is quite good. Close to the busier part of Kyoto but not so close that it is loud. There is a Family Mart right near by. However, we had a lot of issues with the Wi-Fi connection (the slip they hand you with the Wi-Fi password on it even notes that the connection is spotty), which is disappointing for a four star hotel. The room was otherwise clean, and water pressure was decent for showering. They also have complimentary luggage storage service which was very helpful on our trip.

Friendly Staff and Great Location
Great location with easy bus access near the property. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with friendly staff members who also surprised us with a room upgrade.

The location of the hotel is great, its relatively close - 8-10 minute walk from the closest train station - I exclusively used the trains to get around. The hotel is designed so nicely, looks great. The layout of the room ( I traveled solo) was great, with a double sized bed, very comfortable, and the hotel is quiet. The breakfast is terrific, don't pass it up. They have a public bath - a sento - but unfortunately my schedule didn't give me a chance to use it. They also have a laundry room - but pro tip: Just a short walk away to the left (as you look at the hotel) is a 24 hour laundromat and it's a lot better to use and cheap. The one in the hotel only has two machines and they are always being used. There is also a kombini (I think it was a Family Mart) just a minute away. Very close to shopping Very comfortable hotel, very good value. Close to Nishiki Market, 15 minute walk.

Not as great as advertised, location is wonderful
The place looks cool, in a good area, but it’s tiny. The room cleanliness was fine, but the bathroom had a distinct bad odor throughout, we cleaned ourselves, the staff cleaned it but it still didn’t smell so good. The AC was strong but sometimes you’d wake up hot after going to be d cold, which was odd. It’s ok, not great, but the area makes up for it. We hated that the cramped 2 machine laundromat on the same floor as the reception, and the presence of the “public bath” there, as they took away from the formality of the reception area. Also the “garden” is basically a small glass box surrounded by chairs in the lobby. Not like the commercials. The best things was that there was a coin laundry and cafes 1 min walk from the hotel which was wonderful. There were great convenient stores close by too. Not too close to train stations either.

I would absolutely stay here again. The staff was friendly and helpful. The entire vibe of the hotel really set the tone. The breakfast was also excellent with plenty of Japanese and western options. I also loved being able to walk out of the hotel and have a plethora of restaurants to choose from, not to mention a Family Mart right on the corner!
