Very good

I had to cancel my reservation and Arenal Roca Lodge would not honor their cancellation policy. They refused to reimburse me for any amount of money, telling me that my booking was non-refundable. This conflicts directly with the Expedia travel confirmation email I received immediately after making this booking on Expedia.
Our room was not cleaned or furnished with clean towels, cups, etc daily. Also, bc of tours, we had to have a take-out breakfast and it was never ready at the time requested. Bldg was old and shoddily maintained.
I was traveling with a guest that had mobile limitations. The property road and guest bungalows are on a steep incline. The road on the property is uneven and is rutted. My guest at one point fell and thankfully , there was someone behind her to catch her. I informed the front desk person that my guest felt unsafe and made a reservation at a nearby hotel. I asked for a refund for the second night of our stay. I was told the manager refused my request. The desk clerk Randy was apologetic and kind. Beware of this hotel if you have any physical limitations.
Very basic room which had seen better days. Nowhere to hang anything - a problem when it is wet! Good shower and comfortable beds. Breakfast was ok and staff were helpful. Great location to get around the Arenal volcano area and get into La Fortuna town.
Everything was excellent during our stay. Staff is really nice, the maintenance guy help me with a flat tire fixing with his own kit (he saved us). Area is really well positioned for Arenal Volcano park and good food options around.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Lovely no frills hotel outside of town but close to places to see and eat. Would stay there again.
Our stay at the Arenal Roca Lodge was great. Although the rooms are a bit dated, they were clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large. The view out the window was incredible, although the weather hindered our view for much of the stay.
Randy at the front desk was incredibly helpful and very kind, he made our stay that much better. The breakfast in the morning was also very good, and everyone cooking/serving was very kind.
I chose this hotel for the view, pool & surrounding area. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a closet or anywhere to hang your clothes, not even a hook in the bathroom. This became a huge problem because it poured rain the whole time we were there so our clothes were wet. Also, the day we arrived I went to get pool towels from the office & walked down the hill to the pool only to find it drained & the 4 lounge chairs locked up. Why didn’t the employee tell me that? The employees were all very nice but there seemed to be a lack of communication going on between them. Lastly, if the Lidge does not have at least 4 rooms booked, you cannot eat breakfast there. You have to walk down the hill to their restaurant across the pond. It’s a guessing game each day where you will be eating breakfast.
We had the farthest room from reception and main road and we had no problem with traffic noise. Breakfast room sits around 20 and can get crowded especially since most tours start at the same time. Our stay was short but pleasant.
The facilities are not clean. The reception boy even owned my $10 US dollars when we paid by cash for the room fee. We spent two nights at there and he never paid back to us. But he said that own me $10 US dollars !
