Luxury stone barn in a charming rural village in walking distance to amenities

Welcome to your charming holiday cottage in rural SW France. The cottage is a 300 year old converted stone barn with a secure courtyard at the front, a spacious deck at the rear (with comfortable seating), together with gardens and a private, newly installed salt water, heated pool. The cottage was our home for 15 years and we now live in another converted barn at the other side of the garden. We have just one Gite so the pool is for your sole use. There are 6 sun loungers and 2 large sun shades by the pool.

It is located in Lot-et-Garonne but less than a mile from the border with the Dordogne. It's about a minutes walk from a bar and restaurant, shop, a pharmacy, hairdressers, butchers, ancient church and a doctor's office. There's a small weekly market. The village is rural and well known for being able to see the stars on clear nights. There's even an Observatory. There are numerous walking, running and cycling trails in the area. Parc en Ciel (an adventure ground with a range of outdoor activities) is a short walk. Kayaking on the Dordogne is within driving distance. However, for history lovers the village is surrounded by Bastide villages and chateaux. There are numerous traditional French markets, vineyards and amazing restaurants in the area. To whet your appetite we will leave you a welcome basket of local produce.

The cottage has three bedrooms. Two are en-suite. The third has its' own bathroom on the ground floor. There's a large kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is a well-equipped 'cooks' kitchen with two ovens and a large central island. We provide a NESPRESSO machine. (For BBQ 'cooks' there is a Weber gas BBQ in the courtyard adjacent to the kitchen and a table and chairs for summer dining). The sitting room is also large and has English and French TV, DVD player and Apple TV. There is an Alexa is in the kitchen. There is a DVD library and small collection of books. Both rooms have wood burners and are beautifully cool in summer but super cozy in winter.

High quality toiletries, linens, bath towels and separate pool towels are provided.

We're dog friendly!

A NOTE ABOUT ACCESS, MOBILITY and MINIMUM GUEST AGE:

All 3 bedrooms have two flights of stairs to them and access to the pool and rear terrace is via 2 flights of steps plus several smaller steps and a path. As can be seen in the pictures, the pool doesn't have disabled access grab rails. We, therefore, do not recommend our cottage to anyone who has mobility issues or struggles with stairs.

This is also why our MINIMUM GUEST AGE is 13.

HYGIENE & INFECTION PREVENTION:

We appreciate how important this is to our guests so we follow and go beyond the WHO (World Health Organisation) COVID-19 Guidance for the Accommodation Sector, August 2020. We follow all of the guidance including the airing rooms, washing linens and towels at 60-90 degrees, sanitising bathrooms with recommended solutions, sanitising door handles and light switches and so on. However, we go further and, for example, use pillow and mattress protectors that are changed and washed between guests and air pillows and duvets in direct sunlight whenever possible.

Please note that the check and check out times are non-negotiable as we need this time to properly clean and sanitise the cottage. Further information about the WHO procedures is available in English and French in the cottage.

TRAVEL:

If you choose to drive to us, there is ample parking right outside the Gite. If you fly, we are a delightful 30 minute gentle drive through the vineyards and historic villages from Bergerac Airport (EGC) (with flights to lots of UK airports plus Brussels and Amsterdam). We are approximately 2 hours from Toulouse Airport (TLS) and Bordeaux Airport (BOD). Our nearest train station (about 10 mins away) is Monsempron Libos.

A wonderful experience
We had a wonderful stay in this spacious and traditional gite. Our highlights were: S&D- super helpful, super discrete, they went out of their way to help. Stunning pool and garden area- I loved the seat under the pear tree. Walking to the epicerie each morning for croissants and delicious fruit. The space in the house was amazing for 4 adults. The beds and bedding were so comfortable. The generous supplies of great quality products. There are so many things to do in the area. We loved canoeing on the Dordogne and Monpazier is fabulous.

A perfect week
We have had an amazing week staying in this wonderful property with a stunning pool. Dikon and Simon were the perfect hosts going above & beyond to make sure we had the best week. Plenty of gorgeous places to explore nearby and the local shop and restaurant were within a stone’s throw of the property. We very much look forward to a return visit.

Positively perfect in every way
Simon and Dickon are truly wonderful hosts, their gite is splendid, comfortable, cared for and well-equipped. We loved the warm clean pool, the delightful courtyard with big dining table and parasol and fairy lights. The garden decking has great views over the rooftops and really comfy furniture. Perfect place to watch the hundreds of starlings coming home to roost at dusk! And for a quick hello to dog Oli on his run round the garden. The village has a very welcoming bar/bistro and a well-stocked and friendly grocery supplying fresh bread and croissants. The gite is in a fabulous area for exploring and Simon and Dickon can suggests great restaurants to try. We loved it so much we’ve booked again for next year - just can’t wait!

Exceptional property and incredible hosts
Our family of four stayed in Lacapelle-Biron for 7 days in June. The stone cottage ‘Trois Verts’ is beautifully decorated, with all mod cons, a lovely court yard, patios and great pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which was made even better by the warm welcome, advice and recommendations by our wonderful hosts Dickon and Simon. The surrounding areas with medieval villages and chateaus are beautiful and the food is fantastic. Highly recommended by us all.

Simply Glorious!
Dickon and Simon are incredible hosts - nothing is too much trouble. Their hospitality is second to none. They will help, should you need it, with wonderful places of interest to visit or restaurant suggestions. Equally, if you just prefer to chill by the pool, you are left in peace. The property itself is sublime and you will want for nothing. You can submerge yourself in local life with a short walk to The Palissy bar & restaurant where Faustow and his wife will make you most welcome. Totally enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return.

Home from Home....!!
Wow…what a great family holiday we have just had !! Our 2 weeks staying in Trois Verts in Lacapelle-Biron was one of the best stays we have ever had in France. The house has everything you need and so much more to help you enjoy your holiday. Too many BBQ’s to mention in the courtyard so thank you Dickon & Simon !! The Domaine de le Tuque is a must being a 25-30min walk (or 10 min drive) as the view to the Chateau la Biron is a great photo opportunity plus the wine and owners are fantastic. Parc en Ceil is just down the road which the younger generation also thoroughly enjoyed with the tree climbing ‘Go Ape’ activities. We have been to this area before but this was by far our favourite location to visit our ideal place, the bastide village of Monpazier (hats off to the vet, Frederick, for looking after Buddy & Cooper, we wish you lived in Swadlincote !!). Previous comments don’t lie as we could not have wished to meet two nicer people than Dickon & Simon who were there when needed (not that we needed anything) but were also there for a chat when visiting the local bar ‘Le Pallisy’. Thank you for welcoming us, entertaining us and looking after us during our stay in your fabulous home. The memories we have made these 2 weeks with our Grand-daughter & Family will last a lifetime……xx The Dennis Family

Set in a beautiful area with friendly locals, lots of places to visit and excellent food, the owners, Dickon and Simon, have done everything they can to make the "Trois Verts" a great place to stay and .. return to. Trois Verts is a beautiful cottage, a lot of thought has gone into it, our hosts were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and we can’t recommend it highly enough. If you like a pool then you will love this one, surrounded by a beautifully tended garden and lovely loungers to relax on. The cottage itself is well laid out and has everything you could need, the bedrooms are very comfortable and it was all very clean. Thanks Simon and Dickon for making it such a great holiday.

Stunning property situated in a quiet and peaceful location
We have just recently returned from the most wonderful two week holiday, staying in Trois Verts Gite in the pretty small village of Lacapelle-Biron. We really cannot recommended the property more highly. Spacious, stylish and with real attention to detail, Dickon and Simon have created an attractive and comfortable holiday home. The oustide space is equally impressive and the view from the pool is just wonderful. You can relax and unwind in the peaceful surroundings and then take a dip in the fabulous pool. The salt water is a real bonus but more important for us was just being able to switch off and unwind. You could not be better placed for visiting the gorgeous little town of Monpazier, the exceptionally pretty medieval town of Belves, or 40 minutes will get you to the larger town of Bergerac which is just stunning. With fabulous wines and plenty of good places to eat, you are spoilt for choice in this wonderful part of France. More importantly, when you chose to book a holiday you can only hope that it will live up to your expectations. We have nothing but praise for Dickon and Simon who were fabulous throughout and looked after us exceptionally well. They are close enough to be on hand if you need anything, but are very private and will let you enjoy their wonderful holiday home in peace. Two nicer people you could not hope to meet and we most definitely hope to visit again. Allie, Matt and Freddie

Perfect Place
Excellent property. Spacious, well-equipped and very comfortable. We were given a lovely welcome by Dickon and both he and Simon were perfect hosts - there if we needed them for help or advice but leaving us to ourselves otherwise. The house is beautifully furnished and the two hosts have put in many thoughtful extras to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. We did not use the pool this time but it looked lovely and was very well maintained. The village of Lacapelle Biron has a general store which sells fresh bread and pastries and deli items, as well as salads and vegetables and a range of groceries and wine. It also has, very close to the property, an excellent and friendly cafe/restaurant. The surrounding area is beautiful with many interesting little towns and villages to explore as well as lovely countryside. We found this a perfect place for a holiday and would like to thank Dickon and Simon for a wonderful stay.

We spent a lovely week at Lacapelle-Biron. Although rural, the village had a local shop filled with essentials, and a bar which we frequented often! The locals were friendly also and made us feel welcome. The Gite was spacious and beautiful and had everything we needed. The pool was a hit with everyone! Dickon, the owner was incredibly helpful before and during our visit, and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Will definitely be going back!!

Trois Verts –A hidden gem in Lacapelle Biron, Lot-et-Garonne
The quiet street on the southern edge of Lacapelle Biron gives nothing away about the wonders behind the doors of the Trois Verts holiday gite. My wife, 14 year-old twins and myself were met by Dickon, one of our two fantastic hosts, following our epic two-leg journey from Dundee to Arras then to Lacapelle Biron. Although tired and a bit grumpy, our spirits were immediately lifted by Dikon who gave us the tour round the stone built gite. We entered the gite via the flower-filled front courtyard, where later we would have family dinners and sunny morning breakfasts. The large well-equipped kitchen and dining room only hinted as to how amazing the rest of the gite was. Two large en-suite double bedrooms upstairs and a further bedroom to the rear of the property and a large living room offered us a huge amount of space in which to relax over the following week. The thick stone walls offered a cool indoor respite from the midday sun - however, the large private salt-water pool located in the large garden to the rear of the gite offered a luxuriously alternative way to cool off. We were all in there every day, often on multiple occasions and this was a definite highlight for all of us!!! Oh…I forgot to mention the spacious decking area at the back of the gite – perfect for a relaxing family lunch. We saw Dickon and Simon (our other fantastic host!) at regular intervals throughout our stay as the village is also their home - the village has a well stocked shop, butcher, health centre and, my personal favourite, Le Palissy chez Norbert, the excellent bar-restaurant in the centre of the village - the ideal place to sit with a drink and either watch the world go by or to chat to the locals (thanks to Marge, Paul, Ann and Richard and, of course, the wonderful Alexander for spending some time with us all!) All in all, the gite and its location are just amazing, all you would want from a holiday property in rural France. Dickon and Simon are the perfect hosts, helpful and we could not have asked for a more perfect place to spend our time in SW France..already thinking of when we can come back! C’est Magnifique!!!....Alan.
