Cottage in Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park

We have now followed government advice and reopened bookings for our cottage. We will be blocking out dates between bookings to minimise the risk to ourselves and our guests. The house will also be thoroughly cleaned between guests with particular attention to sterilising contact surfaces.

Millbeck is a converted barn on the edge of a small village, opposite the village green, with views over beautiful Wensleydale in the centre of the National Park. There are a number of established walking routes from the cottage and the village, and is ideal for touring the National Park. Local attractions include the Wensleydale Railway, the Wensleydale Creamery and Dales museum in Hawes. There is even a ropemakers and the famous Aysgarth Falls! There is a wide choice of pubs, restaurants and tea shops, as well as takeaways, in the area.

The cottage is close to the route of the Tour de France, and the area is popular with cyclists, We have a secure garage for the storage of bikes.

Rather surprisingly for a small village we now have cable internet at the cottage which is available to guests.

Lovely cottage
We had a very comfortable 8-night stay. It’s set in a very quite village with beautiful views of Wensleydale, exactly what we wanted. It was clean, had a good shower and equipped with everything we needed, including some kids toys and dvd’s which came in handy. The owner was very responsive and accommodating with our questions and asks. Would happily stay again.

Lovely, homely cottage in peaceful setting
The Mill Beck Cottage had everything we needed to make my mum and I feel at home. It was very spacious, cosy lounge for evenings and beds were comfortable. At the back of the cottage was a stunning walk through fields and past lambs. The little village was silent day and night, with odd tractor going past in the morning which added to the Yorkshire Dale experience!

Lovely idyllic Yorkshire holiday retreat
This cottage was lovely, logs for an open fire, all that you'd need in the kitchen and bathroom and a thoughtful card and bottle of wine upon arrival. Only downside is the bath had spiders webs in it, so obviously hadn't been used for a while.

A very comfortable, well equipped cottage in a peaceful hamlet in glorious Wensleydale. We lacked for nothing in the wetter as well as the warmer, sunnier days. Thank you Sue and Steve for the use of your lovely cottage - and for the welcome wine and greetings on arrival.

A relaxing and comfortable stay in the Dales
We are a family of six and we enjoyed a weeks holiday in Thornton Rust. We found the house to be comfortable, very well equipped and a real home-from-home. The owner had left us a bottle of wine and a card upon arrival which was lovely after such a long drive. We found there was really everything we needed; from tin foil and soap to plasters. This for us really made the difference! The accommodation was spacious, bigger than I had expected with a fab shower, WiFi and comfy beds. The patio and utilities in the garage are an added bonus. Unfortunately the weather was not our friend but we still got out and about. This is a great location for visiting nearby waterfalls and exploring the dales. We took some walks around the village and the owner of the cottage was very helpful with telling us ideas for routes. We absolutely loved our holiday and would recommend staying here.

An EXCELLENT Warm, Clean, Spacious Cottage in the Heart of the Yorkshire Dales :-)
Wow - the Berry family have just come home after a lovely week in the Yorkshire Dales. Mill Beck is an EXCELLENT spacious 3 Bedroom cottage in the lovely quite village of Thornton Rust. It has a lovely feel to it which can only promote relaxation!!! All the facilities are perfect - All mod cons are present including WiFi which I must admit my 2 teenage sons can’t seem to live without :-) Rooms are bright, clean and spacious. Everything you need is present! We made Roast Dinners to BBq’s with no problems at all. Outside is a lovely private patio area which catches the sun throughout the day! We are a family that brings frozen food with us and the large fridge freezer in the garage is excellent for this! The cottage is lovely and warm as it has the added benefit of Central Heating, double glazing and a fantastic large open fire with logs firelights etc.. all provided. Parking outside was never a problem. The walks around the village are great. We walked to Askrigg made famous by the TV show All Creatures Great and Small with ease (4 miles round trip) - recommended as the lovely Humble Pie Cafe does superior homemade cake and tea :-)). We also walked to Aysgarth Falls through lovely countryside from the cottage. We noticed there are plenty of walks behind the cottage as well onto Thornton Rust Moor. Our evening walks were taken this way!!! We are from Devon and although a good 6 hour drive to get to I can not recommend this cottage Highly Enough! Sue and Steve make sure you have all the information needed for a perfect stay. THANK YOU for letting us use your cottage which I have no hesitation in stating - it is the BEST we have stayed in. If you are looking for a relaxing week away enjoying what nature has to offer with the comfort of home mod cons then this is the place for you. You will enjoy your stay :-)

Idyllic Peaceful Retreat with all mod-cons
We enjoyed a lovely restful week away from it all in this lovely character cottage. So quiet and peaceful yet with all mod-cons and ideally located for exploring the surrounding Wensleydale being midway between Leyburn & Hawes. We found everything we needed in the cottage and made use of the barbecue on the sunnier days. For anyone seeking some peace and quiet they would be hard pressed to find a better location.

Very comfortable/clean/well equipped. Lots of 'consumables' in the cupboards. Homely atmosphere.
We stayed for a week with teenage grandchildren so Internet connection was bonus! Were given clear instructions on how to find the house, how to access the house, where to find everything, nice places to eat, location of shops, etc. We like cooking and were especially pleased the kitchen is well equipped and lots of consumables such as salt/pepper/pasta/tin of soup/cling film/kitchen foil etc left for us. The atmosphere was very welcoming and we had a wonderful time walking in the breathrakingly beautiful countryside. We highly recommend it.

Nice cottage and friendly host
Nice clean cottage in a small village up a hill with several walking routes starting from or passing your front door (check Komoot). Large box filled with information about the neighborhood. Interior is a bit outdated but matches the rental fee. Easy contact with host. Great wifi for the kids One suggestion: install flat ceiling lamps in kitchen and hallway to prevent (tall) people from bumping into them and accidently breaking them...
