Heron House is not a misnomer
12 herons one morning! And a telescope to watch them. The house was so accommodating for our family. The location is wonderful. The deck and indoor space was perfect for our needs.

Nice but no internet for 3 days
This is a nice house, clean, and spacious and with beautiful views of Siletz Bay, however with all the fees it came out to be more expensive than it should have been. The cleaners let us in, but when we went out again we had trouble with the locks. The communication we had with the manager and the directions in the guidebook in the house, didn’t agree. We also went without Internet for three days until the manager was finally able to get the correct information from the owners. It seems to me that when Internet is promised, but not available because of the owners changing the password, then a refund should be due to the renter.

We (5 adults) had a wonderful visit at the Heron House! The views were amazing, rain or shine. The house was close to everything we wanted and comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with all pots, pans, crock pot etc, so it made cooking very easy.

Great experience. House and accoutrements more than expected. Charged a hot tub fee of $45. and the hot tub was locked, so we couldn’t use it. It rained the whole time anyway, so we didn’t use hot tub, fire pit or bar b cue.. Charged exorbitant fees for registration as well as cleaning…the fees and taxes were nearly the same price as the house!

Heron House
Nice property right on bay. Down stairs kitchen and living space were nice and modern. Cleaning could have been better. Found lots of sand in couch. Several light bulbs were burned out and smoke detectors went off constantly while cooking. Upstairs shower was moldy and smelled of mildew. The bedrooms a were ok but one room had a skylight without a shade. The outside was relatively clean but there was visible trash under porch. Enjoyed the large open porch. Spa and fire pit were highlights.

Amazing View but bring your cleaning supplies!
I booked this house for the view, beach access, and the hot tub and all delivered. Pros-Great open interior layout so everyone can be together, huge deck with ample seating, quiet neighborhood, beach access right in front of the house, and the view was beautiful from kitchen/dining/living/decks/and an upstairs bedroom. Hot tub worked great and was in a nice private location. House had everything we needed for our stay. Cons-No tvs in upstairs bedrooms. Not a big deal but wanted to point that out for others. The mattresses have outlived their lifespan, creaky with decent "body grooves." I could look passed that though. The biggest issue is the cleanliness of the home. Most surfaces felt grimey (cabinet handles/door handles/tables/chairs/info binders/ remotes/ I could go on!) The stair rails were VERY sticky. The floors were dirty and sticky and definitely not swept/mopped from the previous renter. I swept myself when we arrived and got quite a bit of debris. Everyone was scared to use the upstairs shower because there's a pretty decent jungle of mold growth happening in there. However downstairs bathroom and all the linens were all clean, so there's that. Overall, the house is great. If I could be guaranteed they changed cleaning companies I would rent it again. But I'd still bring clorox wipes and a swiffer mop to be sure!

Heron house
House had a great location, great house, laid out great. House was not clean when we arrived, floors full of sand and tables in living room area sandy so had to clean for first hour. You can not part a boat on a trailer at property and this is not in the property description so we had to scramble to find a boat place while we were on the trip as the sole purpose of this trip was crabbing and fishing in Siletz bay.

Would have been great if it wasn’t filthy!
When we arrived at the rental we were not able to check in until 7 PM because the house was not cleaned yet. We were offered a $75 refund, which we excepted for the inconvenience. When the housekeeper left at 7:05 I used a code from my email to try to get into the house but it did not work. So I had to call customer service, not a huge deal but inconvenient when I’m already checking in three hours late. We finally get inside and the house was disgusting. 1) The floors were disgusting and dirty. 2) there was spilled food in the fridge 3) the telescope for birdwatching was caked with nastiness. 4) they were dirty dishes in the cabinet. 5) Dishwasher was still running so we had to put somebody else’s dishes away. 6) The binders at the house with information are insanely outdated! Helpful information was missing like how to access the hot tub. 7) There’s no dish soap, the only hand soap available is pre-wrapped hotel bar soap but there’s no soap dishes for it so the countertops get slimy and nasty. 8) The baseboards are gross and covered in dust and dog hair 9) The downstairs bathroom had human hair stuck to the wall, the shower curtain liner was moldy and the decorative shower curtain had something splattered on it that looked like vomit. So gross! 10) In the upstairs bathroom the shower was absolutely disgusting, the grout is all moldy and covered in mildew. 11) The bottom of the dining room chairs had dog hair and gunk caked to them, also one of the dining room chairs is broken. The marshmallow sticks are rusty, bring your own, there are no beach towels like stated in the binder so bring your own. The house would be absolutely amazing if it was clean, hopefully this issue is resolved for a future renters! When I tried to get a partial refund, the only thing I was offered was 10% which I think is insulting. I am choosing two complementary nights at a different location and hopefully I don’t run into the same cleanliness issues. If the owner of this home is reading this, I urge you to use a new property management company!

Moms + Kids Summer COVID Getaway
We had a great time at the heron house and would highly recommend it. We were looking for a rental house directly on a beach so that we could provide socially distancing entertainment for the kids. Having this house right on the cove beach was awesome! The owners have lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the view and games to keep the kiddos entertained. The kitchen was well stocked, just pack or buy extra paper towels, dishwasher soap, trash bags and TP if you plan to stay for more than a couple days. But we knew ahead of time only a starter pack is provided so we anticipated supplementing. The house was clean and organized. We did have an issue utilizing the keyless entry, the code we were given wouldn't work. But a call to the emergency line and we got access to a lock box with a physical key. The beach right off the deck was great to play on, and easy from several vantage points in the house to see. There was an even bigger sandy area beach just a 5 min walk away (either on the street or walking on the beach itself), it also had a public bathroom (off 65th St) which was nice. We enjoyed walks around the neighborhood and everyone we encountered was very friendly. We had 9 in our party and slept comfortably. Since I am a planner here are some additional things I would want to know before coming here: 1) no throw blankets, so for chilly nights or mornings when you might be looking for a blanket to keep warm on the deck, pack your own. 2) Great fire pit with seating on the back deck. Bring your own firewood or IGA, a 5 min drive away had bundles for $6. No lighter could be found so bring that as well. 3) Description said there was a DVD player so we brought some DVDs but couldn't locate said player. However, dish network had Prime Video and Netflix apps so we just streamed some movies when we needed downtime 4) The king bed on the main floor is very comfy but the frame is VERY squeaky. If you move around a lot at night, it wakes you up. 5) the window is the bedroom on the main floor has blackout curtains, yes! The windows in the bedrooms upstairs do not. 6) the bedroom on the main floor had a small fan which was nice since it was pretty warm the first few nights of our stay. The bedrooms upstairs did not have fans but we packed a few of our own. 7) No beach towels could be found, just the white bathroom towels, so pack your own. We also brought sand toys, beach chairs and beach umbrellas. 8) washer/dryer on hand were AWESOME! Just bring more soap.
