Class area and very well located for museums and tube, would recommend this hotel
Awful, tiny rooms, can’t even fit under the shower and wash yourself because everything is so tiny.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gainsborough. Our room was lovely and quite spacious. The breakfasts were excellent (across the road in the sister hotel). The only 2 negatives were the very limited availability of evening meals mid-week. However, the French Institute next door had a wonderful bistro. We should have gone there instead of trying the evening food at the hotel. And the other negative was the incredibly tiny en-suite shower room.
Location is excellent: on a quiet side street in Kensington with lots of bakeries and south Kensington tube station 5 minute walk. We stayed in a basement room of which I think the hotel has 3 or 4 and it smelled and looked a bit moldy and carpet was not clean or had been burned. Staff was really friendly and helpful.
Very clean and well kept easy stopover spot. Had a one night layover in London and the place had easy access to the Natural History museum and Victoria and Albert museum.
I took a single room to overnight. Facilities and decor mostly good but heading to refurb time. Shower was a bit tight - I'm a medium build guy, not much room for arms. Staff were split between functional and happy. I wasn't quite as ecstatic with the breakfast as some folks have been - eggs and ham and cheese and tomatoes were good and fresh but pastries fairly low end, couldn't find any muesli and the single portion Cheerios I opened were just within use by but already stale. Coffee was good. Another uptick is the midday checkout as standard. Things were quiet for the centre of town (at the back - except the stompers above me).

Size of the bed and shower and bathroom were extremely small and not comfortable to stay at
Hotel easy to acces from south kensington and walkable to royal albert hall. Hotel staff were welcoming and the room was very clean and modern. Resonable price for central london. However, I would not choose a budget room again as it was on lower floors with no windows. Overal a very pleasent stay.
Lovely hotel, however had some issues with the lights and the location of the room as we were given a room in the lower ground, we could hear a lot of noise from outside.

We have booked a budget room , which was below ground level and were upgraded to a standard room. Well, the Travel Lodge would have been better than the standard room at £175 per night. The only window in the room had a huge air-con covering all of it. The room itself was basic, but the bathroom was so tiny that you had to close the door to be able to move from the sink ( toy-size sink!) to the toilet! The location though was really good.
