This hotel is in a great location. Quite quiet and handy for shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful and available. The room on the other hand was appalling for the price paid. Extremely small, couldn't get around the bed without climbing over, quite outdated and generally unpleasnt experience.

Service from Georgina and Manuele was Excellent ! They assisted with room change when the assigned room was found to be far too small for my wife and me and the mattresses on the twin beds were so worn that they were uncomfortable and unacceptable. They should be replaced and that room only be assigned single guests. Replacement room and beds were much better. Note that if the room was not changed we would have left the hotel though we did not say that to anyone. Ongoing service and interaction with them made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Would book Holiday Inn Kensington High Street again. Breakfast and breakfast service staff were very good and welcoming. Hotel location was ideal. Georgina and Manuele were professional, polite and friendly at the same time.

Clean and close to South Kensington tube station
Clean foyer and pleasant staff. We had booked a king room but they moved us to a standard room which was small. However, it was clean and had all we needed for a 1 night stay.

No aircon
Aircon didn't work, after 1st night they agreed to move our room while we were out. Return to find the new room wasn't a twin and was like an oven. Complained and told the room was a twin, staff came up from reception to look at king sized bed. They told us to stay in room while the sorted out another room but he took the card with him so about 5 mins later the lights went out leaving us in a dark sweltering room. Did not apologize initially when I returned to reception to complain. He said he wasn't responsible for the room swop not being a twin. After 25 mins got new room cards but had to request cards to get luggage out of the initial room swop. We had stayed the previous weekend with no problems. The error was made worse by attitude of the member of staff.

The room I got wich was room 3040 had some significant functional issues: 1. The barrier to keep the water from leaking out didn't work very well and the the bathroom floor was soaked every time I took a shower. 2. The toilet didn't flush properly. 3. The bathroom fan didn't work so I kept the bathroom door open when I took a shower to help expel the moisture. 4. The phone didn't work and they didn't have a functioning replacement for me by the time I left after four days of being without a phone. 5. The staff didn't do a basic orientation to show me how to turn the bedroom lights on and how the other functions of the room worked. This resulted in me turning off the fridge and wasting food that I had stored in it when I was trying to turn something else off. I discovered that you can turn off the outlet to the fridge with one of the switches. 4. The air conditioner is too loud. 5. I could not turn off or figure out how to turn off the night light which I eventually covered it up with my jacket. 6. There was a locked door separating my room with the one next to me, so I could hear very loud children in the morning time when I was trying to sleep in. Don't take room 3040 until they resolve all of the mentioned issues.
