First of all the restaurant breakfast was very good. The wait staff were excellent, and so was the food. The room we had this time was on the smaller size. The bed took up 75% of the room. The bathroom was quite large. Also no microwave. Then there is the tv. A large flat screen, with NO high definition. No station numbers, so you’re guessing what channel you’re watching. Now we’re there during the World Series, on Fox, and I can’t find it. I go to the front desk, and no one knows if I available. They then tell me they will send someone up to assist me. Needless to say we never saw anyone. The next day I asked another front desk person and was told it was only available in the lounge. All in all this was pretty bush league for a hotel that is supposed to be first class.

The location is perfect. The kitchen closes too early and not much communication between front desk and kitchen. Our toilet and carpet were dirty. It was 50 degrees outside and our AC was on making the room very chilly. I would think in the off season they would try to do more to keep off season people coming, like cleaning the toilet!

My room was comfortable and clean as usual. I was glad to see the Restaurant area open for seating. The scaffolding on the building would have obscured my partial ocean view but I was moved to an ocean view to enjoy.

Overall we were happy with the hotel, however, parking can be difficult. Guests can park on the street for free but it can be hard to find a spot close to the hotel, as the patking appears to be shared with residents of the area. We chose a city view room, however, had a room above the ballroom where a wedding reception was occuring. The walls are thin so all of the bass from the music below rattled the walls and metal air grates. The music didn't end until 11:30 pm, making it hard to go to sleep. The noise of the party could be heard down the entire hallway of rooms that have the city view one floor 3. If we return to the hotel, we will definitely be asking to not have a room on floor 3.

The room looked like it was the staff’s break room (at best). Keys didn’t work and had to be re-programmed frequently. The staff is not very friendly nor accommodating. Poor customer service.

My friend and I have stayed at the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach several times and came to think of it as our "escape paradise." That evaluation completely changed this time around. We have just returned from two nights at the Allegria -- we were to stay four nights. The first night we went to the bar for drinks and something to eat for supper. Whatever they put in our drinks incapacitated us, making us feel not only sick but "out of body." Somehow, while we were trying to recover from whatever was in our drink, my friend mysteriously lost $100 from her wallet. We checked out of the hotel the next morning -- two days early. This is now Sunday and both of us are still "not normal." Although this hotel had been our "escape hatch" from the city, it has now seen the last of us. We shall go elsewhere. Ruth Dunner

Spent $522 for a single night for two rooms which had no hot water. While we waited for the staff and maintenance person to try and resolve the issue, we decided to order food from their restaurant. We order the Agave chicken which was $34. We took it back to the room to find out that it was pink. We immediately took it back and was given a burger as a replacement. Back to the hot water issues, after spending 3 hours back and forth with the staff, they finally accommodated to change to another room that had hot water which allowed us to finally take a shower. The maintenance person admitted that the original room was cold. What makes matters worse, we still have not received a call from the hotel manager regarding the issues. This is why I gave this hotel a very poor rating as there has been zero effort to make things better.

All was great with this property except suddenly a noise problem. At 1:00 am all hell broke loose with the room next door for about a half hour before security arrived. Fighting and screaming, definitely damage to room. My walls were shaking.
