We are fairly discerning travelers. We traditionally like a comfortable, clean, upscale style hotel. The Garland checks all the boxes. Although it’s not 5 diamond fancy, the urban oasis, laid back vibe, and extremely friendly staff makes it all worth it. Pool bar is fantastic, pool area clean, on site restaurant is fantastic. The “Palm Springs” era from the past vibe is evident with hip surroundings as well. Room was smaller but clean, amenities great, patio fantastic. Well worth a stay and we’ll be back!

Great honeymoon getaway in LA
I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and many of my family and friends have been asking about The Garland too since seeing all our travel posts. We were able to drop our bags off early and even secured an early check in. All the staff were really lovely and helpful. The room we were given was on the bottom floor where the balcony was hidden behind some bushes to give us some privacy from the courtyard, but meant we could still hear all the live music and goings on from the comfort of our room. The room itself was great, clean, up to date and spacious. The pool and bars were great too, as was The Front Yard. Friendly, helpful service and a fantastic menu to choose from. I don’t eat meat or dairy which can be limiting when eating out, but was fortunate enough to be faced with a difficult decision in choosing what to eat because there was so much on offer! I opted for the octopus starter and then the squash and waffles as a main that was just brilliant! We also took advantage of the free shuttle to Universal Studios and City Walk, which was a great perk and main reason for the location of our stay. Nearby was a supermarket and Starbucks, although Ubers to other restaurants, bars and landmarks were quite pricey from here. (We were over $50 for a return Uber trip to Griffith Observatory for example). Just something to keep in mind! The little shop was also great, and we picked up so many souvenirs that were actually very reasonably priced

I love that this hotel is dog friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. Awesome friendly staff and service. Definitely a vibe. I did not think it was worth $500 a night. (With dog and parking fees) the rooms were very small and you were not allowed to bring your own food in and eat it in any of the common areas and breakfast was not included. If we had breakfast at the hotel it would have been $600 for one night in not that great of an area. You'd do better if staying in Beverly Hills or Hollywood. The hotel is A LOT bigger than it looks in the pics with tons of kids at the pool. I had high expectations and left feeling a bit let down.

Check in was quick. Room was ready an hr before check in time, didn’t have to pay extra..Complimentary Trolly to and from Universal Studios was great. Beds were comfy. Clean room. I was very pleased with front desk when I called to ask if they could ask the trolley driver if he could hold the last pickup time from universal studios we had difficulty finding our way back to the front entrance of the park. Front desk says the driver will wait for us. They were so kind about it. The staff were so friendly I’d definitely stay here again 👍
