This is a beautiful and unique place to stay. The hotel is 5 star for friendly service, cleanliness, fabulous views of LA, large accommodations, and the interesting history behind the property. Steve was very pleasant and gave us a nice tour of the estate upon arrival. It’s like a mini Hearst Castle filled with 1920s decor. The hotel is 4 star for some basic functionality that you’d expect for the price of your room. I believe this is newly open to public as a hotel and think some of these small things I will mention here, if corrected, will bring it to a solid 5 star value. We stayed in the coach house which is an eclectic room. The room is large and has a nice big private patio space. We had challenges with the water pressure of the shower and flushing of the toilet, I believe that needs attention. It most likely is the age of the property. The bathroom and certain luxuries you might expect I’m mentioning here so that future guests are aware. The room did not supply bathrobes, slippers, hair dryer, Kleenex, vanity mirror, TV, or phone. Things that might not be critical to your stay, but if you do expect them, just know you won’t have these available. Overall we really enjoyed the unique property and our stay.
