The only good thing about this property is the proximity to the USC campus. Beyond that, it isn’t good. The area doesn’t look or seem very safe, even though it isn’t very far from the campus, which itself is very attractive and appears safe and well-maintained.
Check-in was fine, although it was disconcerting that the check-in area was locked and I needed to be buzzed in to see the clerk. When I arrived, I immediately noticed a sign that indicated that the free continental breakfast was no longer being offered as of 2/18, several days before our stay. It was irritating that I paid for a service that was apparently cut before my arrival without any notice.
The room itself was a typical motel room from 1985. It felt extremely dated. Sheets and towels were ok, but everything else was in generally poor condition. The smoke alarm malfunctioned at 2AM and woke us up. The clerk was unmoved by this when I reported it at checkout. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again unless the only other option was sleeping in my car.
