That was the most insane thing that has ever happened to me during a hotel stay.
Today, Friday the 26th, it was a beautiful sunny day, so I thought Iâd go sit by the pool. There was a sign outside that said the pool was closed. Like at any other hotel, I didnât see a problem with just sitting on a chair for an hour â I didnât need to swim.
Out of nowhere, a nasty guy in a wheelchair suddenly shouted at me: âGet the fck out of here!â* I was shocked and asked, âWho are you?â He replied, âIâm maintenance here, and the pool is closed. Get out now!â
I was so upset. I asked him to stop talking to me like that and showed him my room key to confirm I was a guest. I also called the front desk to ask for the manager, but he wasnât available. The guy left â but believe it or not, he came back shortly with two police officers.
Yes, the maintenance guy actually called the police on a hotel guest â just because I was sitting on a chair in the closed pool area.
The police walked with us to the front desk, but the manager still wasnât at the hotel. They didnât even ask me for ID, because even they couldnât believe the ridiculous reason the guy called them for. In the end, the police left, but the guy was still rude and nasty. I ignored him and waited for the manager, but never got to see him.
This whole incident wasnât just insulting to me as a guest â itâs a shame for the hotel to keep someone like this working there. Having a maintenance worker call the police over something so trivial
