Old fashioned, quirky hotel.
Extremely dated hotel. Shocked on first arrival as used to more modern hotels but it grew on us with its old fashioned quirkiness. Breakfast was very basic continental. Great location for the station and the centre of Lucca. Initial check in wasn’t particularly friendly but at other times staff welcoming and helpful.

Hotel Rex's staff are friendly and helpful. There is construction right out front so the view wasnt great but they didn't start working til 9ish so it was not disruptive. Location is close to entrance to Lucca and they are working on making it more pedestrian friendly.

Nice hotel beside the railway station and a few minutes from the centre of Lucca. So a superb location for a couple of days visit. Friendly staff, clean room and satisfactory breakfast. Room small but adequate.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Location is good. Just right outside train station and 5minutes walk to the walls. Rooms a bit dated but good size and functional with a mini fridge. Shower was fine and room keeping did a good job each day. Breakfast was average but think it was free so can’t complain. Bread, hard boiled eggs, selection of pasties and selection of cereals. Air con broke in our room so we’re moved room immediately. Staff were very good and did their best to help us get to Florence as train strike and no buses on a Sunday

5 minutes walk from the railway station in Lucca and only 5 minutes walk to the walled city. The Rex hotel was very clean and comfortable throughout, the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs, as my wife is disabled. The continental breakfast was adequate with no limit on eating.

A wonderful hotel. A perfect location, between the railway station and the town walls, only a couple of minutes walk from the cathedral. Sizeable, clean and well‐appointed rooms, a generous breakfast and incredibly welcoming at reception. Highly recommended.

We spent 5 nights at Hotel Rex and would happily stay there again. The location is very convenient to the train station and very close to the entrances to Lucca. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast buffet was delicious.
